Simon’s parents did not intend on having a second child after Byrne, their eldest, was born sickly and nearly died. The gods, evidently, had another plan.

As Bryne entered young adulthood, his parents rescued an egg from an arcane portal that manifested on the outskirts of Clan Lyonesse’s land. Intending to merely care the egg until another parent pair could be located, they were shocked when it hatched weeks ahead of schedule, and even more astonished when the hatchling mirrored Byrne and carried their genes.

The resemblance was so strong, that, as Ewan verified the child’s health with the healing spells he’d learned after his son’s disastrous hatching, he cast a bloodline trace as well. To his complete disbelief, Simon matched their bloodline as a biological child would.

Because Simon was born healthy, unlike his brother, and because of his miraculous arrival in this world, he believes that his own desires do not matter as much as the clan's as a whole. He has incredible talent for the arcane and has put himself through rigorous training to serve as a mage while waiting for his life’s purpose to become clear. Despite this, his fondest dream is to be a warrior like the now-healed Byrne, whom he idolizes.
