  about.
Iole is quite an adaptable fae, good at adjusting to new groups and companions as easily as a Podid hides in a marsh. He's good at imitating more common tones of voice and common forms of body language so his non-fae companions don't get confused, and used to be called over often in one of his old clans to act as a sort of 'translator'. He isn't above lying to protect his friends and clan, and will typically set up a convincing lie beforehand in conversation just in case.

He's the most well traveled out of his group of friends, and during times of boredom he tells Crystal and Zenyu stories from when before he met them. He very much leans into his nature of being a wind dragon, and tends to fidget when sitting still. However, battle training has taught him to keep his fidgeting to a minimum in high-stress situations.

He usually carries around a fine-toothed comb with ridiculously sharp teeth to help him fight when his magically reinforced strength isn't enough. Despite being small, his agility and strength really make him a force to be reckoned with- even in a solo fight.

  origins.
Iole was born in a large clan, constantly expanding due to dragons migrating from other clans. He was the child of two such dragons, a fae and an imperial who decided to have a nest together. Iole was born into the world with 4 siblings, and though they all hatched together they somehow immediately drifted apart. All of them, with their windborne natures, wanted to travel- and Iole was no exception. He didn't want to join the groups of hatchlings training for exaltation, nor did he want to stay in the Windswept Plateau with his clan.

He wanted to explore.

As soon as he felt like he was ready he simply left, bidding any members of his clan who were free a quick goodbye. He wasn't particularly attached to anybody, and they weren't particularly attached to him. It was how it was.

He traveled the world of Sornieth, learning basic survival skills the hard way and joining clans on the way when he got sick of being alone. The wind would always call to him again, however, and he'd be on the move once more with another quick goodbye and just a little more knowledge tucked into his head. Though he tried his best to roam everywhere, he was instinctively drawn towards the labyrinth, the sea, and back towards the plateau. It wasn't easy for him to resist the call to return 'home', but...this time, something was stopping him from simply leaving on his way.

He had met another traveler, another fae with windborne eyes. They 'clicked' easily, the relief of being understood playing a part in their instant friendship. Her name was Treasure. She made his homesickness melt away, and from that point onwards they traveled together. Over time they became more and more attached, and together they learned how to survive without the help of a clan. Everything seemed to be going great! ...Until finally, they had an argument. A real one, not a trivial one like what to eat or who'd be getting it.

Iole wanted to return to the Windswept Plateau. Again. Treasure, for whatever reason, vehemently insisted that they not go back. The fight ended almost as quickly as it started, with Treasure storming off and throwing attacks at Iole when he tried to follow.

He never saw her again.

For a while, he had no idea what to do. She had been his entire world for so long that he didn't remember what it was like to be truly alone. ...So, finally, he returned to the cause of the argument. He stayed away from the floating clans in the sky, fluttering close to the ground with the intent of avoiding any more mishaps. Just being in the plateau was enough to stave off the ache in his heart, at least for a little while, but interaction just felt like too much- until one day, when he met a young pearlcatcher hunting for insects.

Initially he tried to avoid the much larger dragon, but he seemed to mistake Iole for a butterfly and quickly slapped him down with his tail. It only took a few seconds of thought for the pearlcatcher to realize what he'd done and panic, quietly fussing over the grounded fae with a slew of apologies that Iole could barely comprehend. Eventually, after a misunderstanding and several monotone and emotional reassurances alike they both calmed down. That pearlcatcher's name was Zenyu, though Iole wouldn't learn that until much later. Zenyu, astonished at Iole's admission of being completely alone, insisted on bringing the fae home with him.

That was how Iole joined his second 'real' clan.

He met with the leader and quickly found his place in the clan as a gatherer, slotting himself in with the others so well that after the initial mistrust it was as if he was always there. Soon after he joined the clan moved on to a cliff above the Crystalspine Reaches, a move in territory that somehow felt completely foreign to the grey-scaled fae. Of course, he'd heard of individual dragons moving home and flight- he'd been one, so of course he'd heard of it -but he'd never heard of an entire clan moving to live under the care of an entirely different deity.
