Hyperion was the first born of the entire clan. Along with siblings Starlight and Zedd, he introduces new arrivals to the clan. Hyperion has always been the hardest of the leader's children to understand. He is frequently changing his mind, and very rarely manages to keep his calm under pressure. Indeed, even though Hyperion started out with a Leafy Moth as his familiar, he soon became fonder of a Double-Tailed Warcat, Tails, who became his battle buddy. At one stage, he was contemplating another change, but his parents firmly told him that a familiar is for life, not just for days. Seeing all the other dragons with their own unique skills, Hyperion started to feel depressed. Having shown no skills of his own, only a longing to help with gathering seafood. One day, a skin was purchased, but he was hesitant to wear it in case people thought he was hiding who he was. Regardless, he wore it, though was still concerned about what people might think. A travelling dragon, Nico, came by one day and, after seeing the dragon looking so down in the dumps, proceeded to ask him what was wrong. After a long conversation, Nico told him of his great adventures, adding that he could be easily be a diver if he really put his mind to it. When Nico's first son was born, Hyperion was honored that he chose to name him after himself. Nico's son Hyperion enjoyed cuddling up to him that night, but in the morning, the travellers continued their journey, leaving Hyperion with newfound hope. Sure enough, Hyperion ventured into the lake, and trained himself day after day until finally he was ready to be considered the seafood gatherer of the group, even befriending a Maren Wavesinger which he named Shell. In time, he was even training Demyx, a new member of the clan, how to do it himself. Even Kiara, Nico's daughter, will often come to the occasional training day. The trio remain the best of friends to this day. When Smurfette joined the clan, Hyperion agreed to help guide her around the lair, since she seemed somewhat timid compared to the rest of the new clan members. During this time, the two became excruciatingly close and it wasn't much of a shock when they settled down together. |
