DESCRIPTION
Calla works as a strategist for the clan, and any allied clans that need the help. She specializes in several departments and is more commonly known for her navigation for the merchant trips. She frequently goes on these trips for her specialty in using the stars for navigation, creating lair security strategies to sell to other clans, and to help the protectors on the trips by using and deciding on strategies to use if attacked. She used to have a relationship with Char but this is in the past now, and seen as just that, the past. "They had a good relationship but things just wasn't in the cards for them." They'll say to those who ask (or doubt) Char's commitment to Aden (in which case Calla glares dangerously from the side). They work well together and is under Char's command, despite him asking for her advice a lot.

Calla is known by others as the Ice Queen, for her seriousness and seemingly lack of emotions. She keeps a level head in most situations and is rarely upset by sudden turns of events. To her son Naoki, she is a strong, independent dragoness during work but he can always depend on her in his time of need. This was proven when her son was suddenly attacked - then inhabited -- by the Shade. Her heart ached for her son, but she used her tactical mindset to figure out if her son was any danger to the clan. Her opinion of the situation, that her son was still in control but needed training and guidance, helped sway the vote in the clan for him to stay. Many dragons respect her decisions and trust her word, though a few do doubt if her decision was clear minded.

Calla is the adopted daughter, like Safyre, to Alaia and Hideaki. She was found on the edge of Alaia's nest, scared and alone. Out of her siblings, she has the closest relationship with Safyre. Growing up as the clan leader's daughter did make her feel self-important but after an unknown event (excluding Alaia, Hideaki, and Char) she was changed to the way she is now. She believes the only way you get anywhere in life is to earn it through hard work and commitment. Those who disagree with this can't be trusted.

Her footsteps loud for a Fae echoed in the hall. She shifted her stance, holding her arms behind her back as she stared at the dragons in front of her. The Tundra in front of her waited for her speak. "Your security system is ****."

Wincing at her language, the tundra nodded dejectedly, already aware of this. Hence why she was hired. Calla walked to the board where the layout of their lair was pinned flat. She pointed to the East section, where she had pinned several yellow, green and red colored pins in different areas. "The green symbolize cracks where dragons can hide stuff." Catching the purple Tundra's confused look, she explained further, "stuff such as messages, supplies, and even bombs." Her customer blanched. "I suggest filling those cracks in with cement. Now, the yellow refers to the pipelines you have hidden behind the walls. You'll need spells there. Good ones. Ones that are fairly untraceable. Nothing fancy though -- ones that will just alert you of a presence."

Catching another look, she sighed silently, "the ones that do something have more of a glare, they're more noticeable. This way you can have your security team, and yes - you want a security team, figure their best plan of defense and offense. I suggest having them every 10 feet. This allows you to know exactly where they're headed. I also suggest getting a reliable mage to do this, and if you can have them stay in your lair, even better."

Running their claws through their mane, the tundra hastily wrote everything done. Calla waited for them to finish. "So, so what do the red ones mean?"

Calla eyed the red ones before turning back to the overwhelmed Nature dragons. "The red ones are the places your security guards should be located for the best protection. I've left several plans on how the guards should be rotated with your husband. He's currently looking into dragons for your security team."

Calla brushed by the desk to a small table that had her set up. She began packing everything away, neat and orderly.

"Thank you for coming. We appreciate your help."

Calla, having paused at the door, turned. "Pleasure doing business with you. I'll be back in six months to see how you did."

With a whoosh of a breeze swinging back her cape, she disappeared into the whiteness of the Southern Icefield.

The silence, filled with nothing more than the white noise of the ocean and the buzz of insects, and the fading light from the setting sun made work easier. Some would think that working in such conditions might be difficult, but Calla found it comforting. She enjoyed working before the day's light faded into night. It gave her the incentive to finish her work as quickly as possible. Her maps were finished quickly, her plans perfectly formatted. Yes, working during the sunset and until the last remains of sunlight faded was the best option to work in peace and to work quickly. Speed was something Calla was known for when it came to her job. She never took too long on anything she did. The only time wasted was the time she needed in order to perform her duty before leaving the comfort of the clan grounds again on another adventure. Where her job took her was a mystery until it was time to leave.

She looked up from her work, staring out at the calm ocean. The Sundial Terrace was one of the best places to watch the ocean at a distance, and it was a comfortable place to work. It was a ways away from the clan grounds, but that was even better. It meant silence. Exclusion. Nothing other than nature around her. Still, she could sense something approaching. Her job had required her to be on her toes at all times. She was incapable of turning such worry off. Calla set her quill down on the map she was working on and looked behind her. Naoki was making his way towards her, as quietly as he could. Calla smiled and watched him until he finally nestled beside her. Together, they looked out at the ocean, watching the gentle waves topple each other in a playful dance.

“When are you leaving again?” Naoki asked softly. Calla frowned.

“Tomorrow.” She smiled at him and took his claw. “But I will return sooner than I usually do.”

Naoki looked up at the slowly appearing stars. Calla looked back down at her work and sighed. She folded it all up and placed it in her satchel. She could skip an hour or two without working. She worked all the time, and who could say she didn't deserve some quiet time with her son? So often did she leave without being able to tell him, and she could never promise when she would return. It wasn't fair to her child. He deserved better, but Calla's job was demanding. Yet she had no problem demanding some time away from her job.

“Which star is that?” Naoki asked, pointing towards a large cluster of stars. One of them was brighter than all the others. Calla narrowed her eyes and looked for more clues in the sky. She smiled once she found them and nodded to herself.

“We call that the Great Claw. You see how the cluster around it curls, like a claw?” she asked. Naoki nodded and continued to stare up at the sky. It was beautiful. All the stars were coming out the darker it got, the only light being the moon that shined down upon them. Yet it was just a sliver in the sky, making the weaker stars more easily visible. Calla tapped her son's arm and pointed towards another star. “That is the Spiral constellation. Do you see that star, there?”

Naoki nodded. “Yeah, but why do they call it a Spiral constellation, I don't see anything like a spiral.”

Calla got out a fresh piece of parchment and lit a candle. She began to sketch the stars above them, selecting them carefully. Then she drew straight lines between them. “You see,” she said as she worked. “it appears to be a spiral dragon twisting itself into a knot. It used to be called the heavenly knot, but there was another constellation called that in the Southern Icefield. The stars change depending where you are, but the Spiral is always the same. The dragons farther away from us call the Spiral the Dragon's Pupil. But recently, everyone calls it the Spiral to match what Wind and Water dragons called it. The Spiral helps people find their way home. The eye of the Spiral, this star, never moves. It is north. So people use it to find their way home.”

“Do you use it to find your way home?” Naoki asked after a few moments of silence. Calla nodded.

“Yes. I'm never lost. As long as I can see the stars.” She pulled him closer into a hug. “I'll always come home to you, no matter what.”
