That's the only reason why Jareth permits an entourage of Shellions and Podids to bask in his presence. They are, much to his private chagrin, the only ones who address him by the appropriate title.
For another thing, they are quite devoted to fulfilling his little whims: fetching him peaches to snack on, kidnapping hatchlings, adorning his wings with unnecessary glitter. There is no request too far-fetched for a king.

Aside from the occasional disagreement over returning the aforementioned hatchlings, Jareth's clanmates tolerate his antics and pretensions well enough. Clan life can start to drag and he throws a mean masquerade. Coincidentally, they all started having the most wonderful dreams ever since he arrived...
