Biography

Her gaze wandered between the curiously starbound surrounding the entrance of the cave, the contemplation in their gazes, and a living entity made from the breath of fading starlight toying with a comet. His eyes were very pale, but indisputably Arcane; from the constant muttering, skyward appraisal, and all - it was to he she looked, and of whom his gaze was fixated.

"We know you. You've come here with purpose, something you must follow. Go and see my successor, my child, for both of you have much to uncover here."

And so, with little knowledge of this strange, sickly little home hidden under the star-watcher's spires, she journeyed until she met a kindred soul. This new dragon's brows were furrowed, horn and pearl aglow with swirling power beyond her imagination.

He noticed her. His scowl and demeanor did not change, but he shuffled his things aside to make room for her by his bench.

"You've come. Wonderful. I was informed you hail from somewhere further within the Contagion, correct?"

She nodded.

"Fantastic. I need your head, your notes, whatever it is you've thought to carry in place of what you're good at parroting and assist me. It seems the very essence around us is changing; adapting like the diseases from where you've been, and it's making people sick. Liore - the one who sent you here - he feels it worse than anyone as of now. Can't say I put much stock to his words, but..."

His mouth turned sour, scowling at thoughts she would never know.

"The impact this makes on you shouldn't matter. All that matters is we have a job to do, and if you're not a simple second rate geneologist, I'll take what skills I can get. Find yourself privileged to work by my side, let's see how you keep up."

When he turned to her again, the terrain had accepted her as a new clan member; choosing to shelter her from the radiation native to their lands, deigning to trap her inside the room she was obliged to remain for unknown lengths of time. The magic surrounding them fell quietly over her body, distant and far from attuned to its' presence as she may have been, and it calmed the agitation crawling under her skin.

The Pearlcatcher before her did not look to be of the gentler breed. His air was similar to others she'd met before - dragons who placed their pedestals beside the Gods, perching at a level just below them, yet not too far. He appeared to be no more than a selfish scientist with less than desired morals and goals, only similar to Liore in Clan Rank and advisory position, but of who was now her mentor in these strange lands.

"I will do my best."

Whispy, her voice sounded like a memory playing passively in the background of a mind.

Like a flame, the spots around her eyes swirled about and traveled across her face like spiders as she wandered past Cryptic.

Her eyes sought the tomes displayed around the broken shelves, surveying the territory and all that came with it. All the frayed edges told a story of dedication and recklessness, softly informing the curious eyes that Cryptic hadn't always worked alone.

But, she didn't need to know everything all at the beginning.

"Show me where you last left off, then."

The Disease Expert

As a former resident of the Plague Flight, Ysal has grown up around disease and different illnesses and knows how to tell them apart. One disease may cause a dragon's nails to fall off, while another may cause a Guardian's horns to start rotting away on the inside. Whatever it is, if you need help, you go to Ysal.

As she is the resident disease expert, she is also the resident medic, knowing what herbs to mix to heal a certain disease. However, being the resident medic also means she might have urges to... experiment on some of the hatchlings. She doesn't practice dangerous experiments, just... experiments that may change the hatchling's scale or wing textures, or even make them sprout gems or spines. She even tests herself sometimes, causing herself to grow spines, get wings that looked like crystal, and form dark patches on her scales.

Ysal is like your everyday mad scientist, except not so... mad. She may have her moments of insanity, but that's jus her talking to herself, or maybe even laughing weirdly, but that's it. She has an underground garden where she grows herbs and fungi used in her disease remedies, which she grows using 'simulated sunlight'; thousands of Glowing Pocket Baubles strung up on the ceiling of the underground garden. There is also a small mixing lab at the back of the garden, where she mixes the materials she needs for a certain remedy. She calls her mixing lab an 'Alchemy Table'.

Ysal's assistant is the ever-willing tester, Einion.
