Persona Oxter is not afraid to speak his mind, no matter what his thoughts might be. Direct to a fault, he will loudly point out another's foolishness and mistakes no matter how far their station is above his own. More than once this has resulted in a hard blow from Pith or Ubiety when his master is in a foul mood, but those that can stand his brusque demeanor he quickly warms to, even if he considers friendship to be cursing and brawling over drinks. Though gruff and rude in demeanor, he has a wide vocabulary and honed wit at his disposal, and has definitive opinions about tradition. He prays to the Plaguebringer daily for resilience and tries to aid Apothegm, the plague priestess of his clan, when he is in the territory. Background Oxter was hatched under a different name in a distant clan. The son of a Priest of Life and Heir of one of the clan leaders, he was expected to show a reverence towards the clan hierarchy and tradition, but before he reached adulthood he'd set himself firmly against this expectation after he began suspecting his mother's role as an informant to the clan leaders. Embittered by her duplicity and unforgiving of his father's devotion to stay within a clan that hunted their own, he took his leave earlier than most, traveling across the wastes of the plaguelands. However, the world was no less harsh away from his home, and after traveling for some time he stumbled across a merchant's caravan, owned by a snapper named Ubiety. He fell into working for the boisterous trader as an indentured worker, hauling a train of carts into the shadowlands, where his luck turned even worse. Years have passed, and he is now shackled by accumulated debt as well as darksteel irons into Ubiety's service. He has learned to mind this less in time, as his work is honest enough and he managed to find a mate within the lands of the Bleak Strand. However, not long after he left the nest on another trade mission, his mate Maudlin ignored his desire to have their hatchlings kept within the plague priestess's magic and inherit their plague ancestor and moved the freshly laid clutch to the shadow caste's eggsite. He has been furious with Maudlin since, and refuses to speak to his own offspring. Derangement XXXXXXXX |
