Along with her brother Agkist, she once guarded the nesting grounds from any intruders or curious familiars. She took her job very seriously but on uneventful days she could be seen curled up alone or with her brother napping soundly. She was content to spend most, if not all, of her time with him. Muntz tended to avoid contact with most dragons due to her illness. Red fungi began sprouting from her body after an expedition into the Viridian Labyrinth and the fungi could not be removed by any dragon in the clan. This fungus, nicknamed the Devil's fungi, made her more easily fatigued and prone to bouts of muscular weakness. Her clan mates found her disgusting despite the non-infectious nature of the fungi and avoided her. On her especially bad days Muntz wished she could just dig into her own hide and rip the fungus from her body. Meeting Cercos was one of the best moments of Muntz's life. She finally met a dragon (who wasn't family) that didn't find her disgusting. Opening up didn't take long either after feeling starved for affection and interaction. After settling and falling into a familiar pattern, Muntz realized she was very much in love with Cercos. Cercos had no interest in mating however and Muntz let it run its course before finally settling into a more platonic relationship with Cercos. Muntz still had bad days despite having someone to ground her emotionally. On those days Cercos and Muntz could be found curled up together murmuring quietly, Cercos helping to soothe Muntz's inner turmoil. After Agkist decided to follow the path of exaltation, Muntz took a definite turn for the worst. Losing her closest sibling, no matter how bitter and twisted their relationship had become, hurt her deeply. He never told her about his plans, just simply disappeared one day and let her find out from Cercos. In a moment of weakness and self-pity, Muntz allowed herself to be convinced by Calendula to breed with him. She should have known no good would come from it. The result was three healthy hatchlings and an abomination. Overcome with grief, Muntz banished the healthy hatchlings and attempted to kill the horrid one. Surprisingly, Silka came to its defense stating that he was her charge. Since then Muntz has further retreated into herself. No one can get through to her, only on occasion can Cercos cajole her into eating. Muntz has become emaciated and frail, garnering the pity of her clan mates. They all wait with bated breath for the day she will no longer wake. |
