Vertumnus helps organize the teams of dragons that search for food and trinkets in the wildnerness. The Plague dragon has a vast knowledge of the world geography, much of it stored in his pearl. He spends much of his time traveling to places he hasn't been so he can create memory maps and know where to send the next team of explorers. As a member of the Elder Council, he is allowed to counsel Medeina on important decisions. Vertumnus has completely forsaken his Plague upbringing, and often hides his red eyes in shame of his birthplace. Unfortunately, some of the scars he received in his hatchling days festered, giving the appearance of the Wyrmwound on his belly. After a year of suffering as such, the Wyrmwound marks disappeared as soon as they had appeared, right after the annual Riot of Rot. Nowadays, Vertumnus has devoted himself to finding a cure for Pomona's blindness, even though she insists she doesn't need one. He keeps a record of all the places he has searched on the magical Tattoo he has.
