Biography
Soil was named because he could always be found grubbing around in the dirt as a hatchling. Whenever the adults of the clan turned around to look for the fosterling Tundra, they found him covered in thick volcanic soil, into which he'd been burying seeds and nuts. This fascination with mud carried into Soil's adulthood, and this inquisitive Tundra has revolutionised the clan's food supply.
The slopes of the mountain above the lair above have been cut into steps. Water fountains down from one layer to the next, through interlacing channels. And the whole mountainside is covered in plants. Edible plants, for the most part, interspersed with a few trees that a Nature dragon insisted were necessary "to prevent the erosion of the soil and the collapse of the whole system".
Lower down, on flat land, animals graze on lush fields of grass. Insects buzz, flit, and hum around meadows of wildflowers. The only part of the clan's food chain that Soil didn't touch was the seafood side of things; that he left to the industrious Ridgebacks and their "trawler nets".
Oh, sure, the clan's gatherers still venture out to fetch in other food, to add variety to the diet, but for the most part they don't need to. There's even surplus food to trade with other clans.
Future genes: Tiger/Daub/Spines
