Aspen, Lorn's now familiar, was flying in Ruby's winglet when he saw her fall, and flew after her. Meanwhile, Lorn was playing in the forest. When he saw what he thought were two big, fluffy, winged rabbits falling from the sky, he darted after them. Aspen, with no knowledge of where the little dragonet had come from, took care of Lorn, and when he finally tracked down Ruby and found her with a group of dragons, he decided that would be a safer place to stay.

As both a hatchling and a dragonet, Lorn liked sleeping in Aspen's wings and playing with Laura and Peridot. He collected shiny trinkets and regularly got lost, usually found yelling at a crow that had knocked him out of its nest. Now, he still loves playing, although he, Peridot, and CloudSpots train together most of the time. Aspen mostly sleeps in his wings now, and he really likes going to Laura and telling her stories of what he sees when training and hunting. He still collects shiny things, but now also hunts the crows instead of them chasing him.
