The clan matriarch, a priestess to the Lightweaver, and a dedicated scholar to the mysteries of the Hewn City. She snacks on bugs a lot and perches on everyone. It's her way of offering a sense of reassurance and safety to her clan. Her studies of the Hewn Study go back decades, arising from her intense curiosity about the mysteries of her home region. Zinnia's studies specifically focus on how light travels through the Hewn City. Since it's not pitch black, some light must move through it, but a majority of it does not. Her most recent research suggests that some unseen force is negating much of the light that tries to reach the Hewn City, completely absorbing light at different wavelengths. Evelyn is helping her solve this mystery with SCIENCE!
Chirp is her adopted daughter.
The fact that she's the matriarch despite being absolutely tiny is a long story. Like, really long, too long to explain here. But suffice to say, despite her size, she makes for an impressive defender of her clan, because she is ridiculously good at using swords. Even if those swords are several times her size and outweigh her substantially.
She has a quite bit of bloody, dirty laundry. She doesn't talk about it much. Or, maybe she has, and she was just unintelligible. Hard to say with Zinnia.
