Biography
O r a b e l l a - S e c o n d / M e n t o r
Orabella has lived with her clan virtually her whole life. She could still remember the day Lady Ira and her mate Enden had taken her in in their just budding family. She remembered all of the members that joined after her; some had stayed until the call of the Plaguebringer took them away, and others remained until their final breaths. Even her own mate, Iskan, had left, following the Mother's voice to the beyond. Though she would miss him and the rest of her family that had come and gone, she was happy. Lady Ira's daughter, Hellweeper, had taken her mother's place, and while she could be a bit too violent at times, Orabella knew her heart was in the right place. ྿ It was a beautiful autumn day; the trees gently swaying in the breeze, leaves dancing as they made their way to the ground. Orabella sighed in contentment. What a day to patrol their borders. She and her company, consisting of Aelia and Hirael where making their way back to the compound to give Hellweeper their patrol report. As expected, there was nothing exciting to report, aside from when they saw two rabbits chasing each other only for them to trip over a pair of roots. She could almost see the edge of their home past the trees when an almost unheard rustling caught her attention. Orabella instantly froze, ears flicking every which-way. It only took a second for the others to know something was up. Hirael took a frontward position, closer to the edge of the trees and the compound behind. Aelia dropped low to the ground, tail hovering above the fallen leaves, shoulders braced. A second, then another went by in silence. Orabella almost hoped that it was another stupid rabbit, but her hopes were dashed as suddenly a creature jumped on Aelia, scoring her back with savage claws. The hunter howled, before twisting her neck up, trying to latch on to her assailant. Out of the corner of her eye, Orabella saw a second and then a third creature drifting closer through the trees. Turning her head, she saw more on their other side. They were out numbered. Making a snap decision, she turned to Hirael, who was about to lunge toward Aelia. "Hirael! Go to the compound, tell Hellweeper what is going on and bring Vevina." At his hesitant look to their other comrade, she snapped her jaws at him, "Go!" Immediately, he twisted around and took off towards their compound, to Hellweeper. Orabella turned her attention back to Aelia, who had managed to dispatch the thing that had attacked her, and was now growling menacingly at the rest of the creatures. They were steadily moving in on them; any moment and they would engage. There had to be at least seven. Aelia twitched her ear at her, and the creatures moved. From all sides they came, left, right, behind, above. The fight quickly became a melee, the creatures claws flashing in the sunlight. They were trying to get at Aelia, as her back was still bleeding from the first creatures attack. The two quickly fell into a rhythum; claw, duck, snap, dive, slam. Being the more experienced fighter, Orabella moved with grace, using every part of her body to attack. A tail swipe here, neck bash there. The enemies that went for her were down after a few seconds. Aelia, on the other hand, was still learning, so all she had to go on was her teeth and claws. While she could attempt to replicate her senior, with her back hurting more as the fight went on, she didn't dare make a risky play. Finally the last of the creatures dropped to the ground, dead. Orabella stayed on alert, keeping her ears moving to check for any more unwelcome surprises. Aelia, meanwhile, layed on the ground and turned to check over her wounds. A sound reached Orabella's ears, causing her to immediately jump in front of Aelia in defense, wings and tail raised. Looking toward the direction of the sound, her wings dropped in relief. Hirael rushed towards them, practically chirping in happiness. Hellweeper calmly walked behind him, turning her head to look at their fallen assailants. Vevina zoomed over to Aelia, going to work on checking over her injuries. Orabella quickly stepped asside to let the little medic work, moving over to her Commander. "Are you alright?" Hellweeper asked quietly, not moving her eyes from the scene. "Yes, aside from a few minor scratches," Orabella reported. "Aelia was the one who took the most damage." Hellweeper turned her head to look at her, taking in her injuries or lack there of. The hard look in her eyes softened just slightly. "Very well." she said as she turned away, walking toward the compound, "You'll be her teacher from now until you think her finished with her training." Orabella blinked. She stood there and watched as the others followed Hellweeper back to the compound. Finally she snapped out of what ever trance she was in, running to catch up to the others. |
