Somehow I am feeling it More as I get old This Is How I Let You Down | The Franklin Electric |
Celaena Finder of the Land The Kingdom of Silverwick was not always a kingdom. In fact, it is a relatively young land. But the habitation of the land that now holds this name goes back long before the reign of High King Orion. It all began with a small, young fae, and her beloved tundra. Celaena had always had a deep thirst for knowledge, matched only by her desire for adventure. For as long as she could remember, her nose had always been tucked in a book or a scroll, devouring what tidbits of history, language, politics, science, and more she could find there. As she grew up, she knew she would soon be made to select a home for herself, to start a clan somewhere in the vastness of Sorneith. Her mate, a steadfast tundra by the name of Yuto, knew that this was something Celaena would have to decide for herself as the chosen matriarch of this new clan, so he would only tell her he would be happy with whichever flight called to her. For long time she researched each flight and its respective deity. At first, water was calling to her. The serene seas and promises of prophecies was fascinating, but in the end, not quite the right fit. Arcane had some interest, for she highly respected magic and astronomy, but it too was decided against. Eventually, she was stuck between two glorious flights, Light and Ice. The Lightweaver's domain was so airy and bright, and the inhabitants were so studious, just as she was. But where was the love for adventure? Ice had everything Celaena wanted in a homeland. The territory could only be home to dragons with an adventurous heart, and the innate nature of preserving and analyzing things inspired Celaena. Why not have her home be a vast archive of knowledge? A museum that would draw dragons from every flight to come there and study? With that decided, she and Yuto officially made their way to their new home in the Southern Icefields. The land was indeed cold, but it was exactly what Celaena wanted. She reveled in organizing the collected artifacts and texts that started pouring into her archives. As new dragons found their way to the lair, they looked to her as a leader. At first, she accepted this role, knowing she had been destined for it from the start, but as the clan continued expanding, her leadership duties began cutting into her work in the archives. Yuto tried to help, but even that was not enough to lessen the burden on her shoulders. By this point, the clan had developed a unique form of prophecy based on reading the skies, and the acclaimed seer Winter stepped forward with her now legendary prophecy foretelling a ruler destined for greatness, marked by the stars, as if cut from the sky itself. Once Orion had hatched and was proclaimed to be the ruler that had so been longed for, Celaena passed leadership of the clan to the reagent, Moonstone, who would rule until Orion came of age. It was then that the name Silverwick was given to the now vast kingdom. Yuto and Celaena are still called upon from time to time to help guide Orion and the court, but for the most part the two are retired, and spend their time sharing their wisdom and stories with hatchlings in a comfortable corner of the archives. |
