Biography
FIRST HUNTER |
CAUSARIA FRIGHTENING | VIOLENT | JEERING | VICIOUS | CRUEL |
CHAOTIC NEUTRAL ART |
That one fell swoop of yours
Paid for a hundred more of mine.
Overwhelming, creepy, and just all around difficult to be around. Not that she cares. Despite being the lair's founding member, Causaria has no interest in leadership, and instead dedicates herself to the hunt while others take care of business. Born in the pus of the aching world Born to act on tooth and claw Born as a beast Gods how she loved it Do you know the way flesh tears? Have you felt bones snap under your feet? I bet you wouldn't dream of it Not the way she craved She was good Too good She was terrifying to behold But she was loved For a time When you love the crystalline flow of the open sea Yet fear the snarling depths How can you say you love the ocean? Send her out Walk the dust Forget the taste of food and water Wander Wander Grow wild and hungry All is prey All a threat The beast that shivers Quakes and moans A meal, too small, too weak But a meal Until it smiles And she remembers love She remembers trust In the small beast That shivers Quakes and moans And smiles x |
Born into a powerful pack controlling a vast territory surrounding the Wyrmwound, Causaria's chaotic temper developed quickly. Though violence was encouraged by the clan, as a hatchling her tendency to take every play fight to the extreme forced her caretakers to separate her from the other young. Upon reaching maturity she became, if anything, worse. She grew to be distrusted and disliked by her would-be family, particularly the aged veterans who stood council to the Alphas. It came as a shock when the Beta began pursuing her for their mate. A seasoned warrior, they admired her ruthlessness and unbridled spirit. Blind to the hate of their subordinates, Causaria was wooed with choice kills and a front place in the hunting party. Out of respect for their Beta, the Alphas gave consent to the match, to the elders' horror. Hushed schemes were made for Causaria's elimination. Time would prove them unnecessary. If the Beta's admiration was sparked by her wild determination, it was snuffed by her unapologetic disrespect. She hurled taunts with a complete disregard to her targets, insulting hatchlings, superiors, and lover alike. Their patience wore thin. What had once been a source of endearment became the cause of bitter feuds between the two as the Beta sought to calm her vicious tongue. A final insult at the Matriarch's expense pushed the Alphas to the breaking point. They could no longer ignore Causaria's insubordination - she was given a choice: stay and be punished, or leave and never return. She left without a farewell to her once-lover, nursing a grudge for the family she would not have otherwise wanted. In her exile, she prowled the Abiding Boneyard alone. Occasionally she would catch sight of the nomadic clans seeking refuge at the Rim, but her distrust of groups of any size always led her to steer clear. Still, she ached to see the trust they had in one another, finding herself craving a comfort she refused to admit she needed: A friend. And so she roamed, angry, desperate, and nearly feral, until by chance she came upon a monster hidden in the cave of some great beast's ribcage. The creature was something terrible, to be sure. All distorted flesh and tissue, with teeth sprouting from unlikely places across its body. Causaria tensed with the instinct to run, but curiosity drew her nearer. Closer, she could tell the monstrosity was weak and starving. It did not flinch at her approach, though she could see it tracking her with its eyes. Poor little thing. It would not be so much to take this meager life. She had to eat, after all. Even if its smell left much to be desired. As she came within pouncing distance, the creature finally stirred. It raised its horrible head, and it smiled. Practically beamed at her. It was warm and welcoming, like she was an old friend stopping by for an unexpected visit. Causaria froze, suddenly unsure of everything. The world was undoubtedly a mean, cruel place, but a single smile from a monster toppled her ideas about her place in it. She found her maw curling, and she was smiling back. His name, he later told her, was Amicus, meaning "friend". She thought could never have been a title more fitting. They traveled together, and her animalistic impulses were calmed by his presence enough for her to begin planning her revenge in earnest. She began to reach out to other exiles and loners of the wastes, her ruthlessness and his kindness working together to convince these strangers that their cause was worth putting stock in. Eventually, Causaria had amassed a hunting party more than a half-hundred strong, with the addition some leeches drawn in by her growing forces who sought the safety such a pack ensured against the dangers of the Wasteland. She would not turn them away, so long as they offered some skill to the pack in turn. Their strength surged, and she knew they were ready. She led them home, where she had been both loved and shunned. Her family welcomed her back with teeth and violence. The young pack met them in kind. Though they outnumbered the older party, they were not seasoned warriors. |
