Clan Patriarch and Healer
(most likely to get a tummyache eating sweets) -- Affinity : Light -- Mate: Kodama Children: Merak, Sirius, Kuma, Cassiopeia, and Auriga Adopted Children: Styx and Orin Grandchildren: Kodiak and Aztai ***** Arcturus is the patriarch of the Bright Cosmos Clan, somewhat ironically named by his mate, since Arcturus is certainly not the brightest bulb in the lantern. Sweet and naïve, he tries always to find the best in everyone and makes friends easily. He is also quiet and is fully aware of his specific limitations — such as coming up with ideas that are not silly and ridiculous. Ask him where he comes from, and Arcturus will simply smile and say he hatched from a snowball. In truth, he recalls nothing before waking up in a snowbank in the Southern Icefield. He also can’t answer why he was there, half a world away from the Sunbeam Ruins. Arcturus met his mate, Kodama, a relatively small Light Guardian, in a similar predicament only a few weeks after he woke up. It was love at first sniff for him, and the fact that she promptly announced that he was her charge assured him it was meant to be. Together, they travelled around the Southern Icefields, exploring and planning to head north. Kodama was clearly the brains of the operation, and Arcturus was absolutely comfortable with that. They decided to start up a clan, though Kodama had to dissuade Arcturus from naming it “Clan Snowball”, “Clan Flashlight”, or the “Kodama is the Prettiest Guardian Clan”. One morning, before moving north, Arcturus and Kodama awoke to find a battleworn, Ice Imperial named Kurome, had simply turned up from nowhere. Arc was elated to meet her and decided that she was going to be his second most best friend instantly. Kurome didn't seem to mind. She made herself instantly invaluable through her fighting skills. Arcturus was glowing with glee and even the more level-headed Kodama was very happy to bring her into their newly formed clan. A couple more dragons joined them soon and, after much kerfuffle and adventuring, they made it to the Sunbeam Ruins. Though Tundras generally tend to make burrows to start their lair, Arcturus was elated to find a huge stretch of ruins completely vacant and claimed them. They set up a kitchen, food stores, and a massive library up top and began to build the rest underground. The place didn't start to truly take shape, though, until the Bright Cosmos Clan was joined by a couple Pearlcatchers who built towers and some Faes that patched up holes in the ruins with amber. One of Arc's current favourite things to do is to run around the whole lair, which now stretches for miles, and show newcomers around. He's built more secret tunnels to the kitchens than he can count, but his nose is so good that he can, and has, found his way around with his eyes closed. Arc bears the scars of his first, ill-advised forays into physical combat. Though 100% willing to protect his clan, Arcturus’s gentle nature doesn’t lend itself to fighting even a little bit. Luckily for him, his friends suggested healing might be more up his alley and he took to it like a Ridgeback to delicious sashimi. Healing magic is one thing that makes this fluffy beast very proud of himself, but when push comes to shove, his Light magic can be absolutely devastating (but don’t tell him that). Arcturus’s favourite things are baking, eating the baking before it’s done, having fun with other dragons, digging "secret" tunnels, patching up hurt dragons, and listening to Kodama read to him. He also love birds. Birds in the clan are friends, not food, so Arc is almost never seen without his bird, Raspberry (whom he has ironically named after one of his favourite foods). His familiar, a Clouddancer called Feathers, is also very bird-like, and is one of his best friends. |
