 As a general rule, there are three kinds of dragons within the Fullbright Clan - those who came to the lair from the start, those who were originally meant to serve the Arcanist, and those who simply got lost within the Star Wood Strand and stumbled across the Fullbright Clan's lair.

Pinfire was the first dragon to simply stumble across the lair. It isn't clear why he ventured from the familiarity of the Tangled Wood to the Starfall Isles, and he has long since forgotten his original purpose for coming here. All that he remembers is being hungry, eating a strange plant in an attempt to quell his hunger, and then waking up in the clan's den with Goshiki hovering over him.

Atreida had made a comment about how fortunate Pinfire was to have been found by Goshiki, and when Pinfire thinks back on it... throughout his life, he has had many lucky coincidences. Whether his luck is a "trick" of the Shadowbinder, or simply a happy coincidence, none can say.
