The Quiet Night

Rescued as a hatchling, Xion took quick note of how close his coloring was to that of her own mate, Shannon, and named him Shan in honor of him. But that was where the similarities ended; Shan quickly became quiet and reserved, not wanting to form bonds past those who cared for him. Being given up at such a young age had made him more than wary, and if he could avoid being hurt again, he would, even if it meant being a loner.
Unfortunately for him, he caught the eye of fellow adoptee Candy Dream, who soon decided he had many of the qualities she'd dreamed of in her perfect mate. While he tried his hardest not to get attached, the persistant and friendly Candy Dream managed to get under his skin and pull him from his shell, and he became friends with her. He doesn't regret stumbling into a fling with the brightly colored dragon at all, but has become more careful since she gave him three hatchlings of their own.
Unable to fully grasp what being a father entailed, he didn't get a chance to know two of his children before they struck out on their own, and over time has come to regret that greatly. He's trying harder with his remaining daughter, Wren, but it's hard going and she's attempting to help him learn. He has decided he has no interest in mating with Wren's mother, but he and Candy Dream remain good friends, even if she has to prod him quite a bit to get him out of his corner.
He has few friends among the clan members and even less interest in finding a mate, but finds companionship in not only his daughter and Candy Dream, but also in Ion, who reminds him much of himself, and Reinbo, who enjoys coming over to talk to him and provide advice.
