Memories are strange constructs on their own, but even more so to the tundra race. With no recollection of his earlier days save for the scent of lilies and sun-kissed dewdrops, WaterLilly is blinded to experiences and can see only the light of the domain surrounding him. This has proven to keep his heart pure, a trait that the Lightweaver herself blessed him for with the gift of his clan and mate. Together with Rache, WaterLilly was more than content to watch the sun's rays pass by each day as their clan grew with offspring and rogues. He watched over the young, and approved each dragon that sought shelter, no matter their situation. They all smelled of promise and sincerity, and that was more than enough for him.

With each passing year, the great tundra grew older in spirit until the clan itself passed a rumor that WaterLilly had been birthed fully-grown, for none could imagine the grandfather-like figure being anything but the elder he was. The kindhearted dragon was known for his silence and sincerity, and even as his muscles began dissuading him from moving and Rache became more overpowering, when WaterLilly chose to speak, the entirety of the clan listened well. It was this respect that kept WaterLilly's happiness over the years, for he knew that should his clan ever wander, his words would bring them back to the light. More than anything, however, WaterLilly adored the scent of the hatchlings' curiosity, and the way they would climb along his bones and burrow into his thick, warm mane. Their innocence and awe were astounding to him, and he found himself more willing each day to watch over the young ones while Rache took control of the clan's necessities.

He had always trusted his mate; Rache had been a loyal servant of the Lightweaver and was gifted with strength that far surpassed mere physicality. WaterLilly may have been the head of Cloudbreak, the founder and one deemed leader by the blessed Lightweaver, but Rache was the bone and muscle of the clan. She had always been there by his side, proud and cunning, and he listened to her well and advocated her abilities to all their clan with pride in his heart.

In the end, it was that blind faith that broke not only him, but the very foundation of their clan.

The day Rache returned to their nest covered in the stench of betrayal, WaterLilly lost more than just his trust for the dragon. His entire heart had shattered, and his mind became even more blind in his attempt to shelter himself. He spoke to neither Rache nor his clan from then on; not even the Lightweaver herself could coerce the sounds to leave his throat.

The eggs that Rache had been forced to bear from her betrayal were the only ones WaterLilly had never touched, and the only ones Rache ever had. When they finally hatched, the LightWeaver was sent for to decide the newborns' fate. WaterLilly could not bear to do more than lay upon his resting spot and watch the cold stone walls glitter with the light born of the Lightweaver's presence. Even when three of the four newborns were taken away by the Lightweaver, he could not bring himself to comfort his dear mate. Rache believed herself capable of hiding her inner feelings from the clan, and he supposed she succeeded, but he was acutely aware of her heartbreak. He smelled it whenever she was near, mixed in with the newfound apathy for him she now bore.

The tundra was no longer the leader of clan Cloudbreak - he was barely a dragon anymore. He continued to mate with Rache and produce offspring that would be exalted to the Lightweaver's grace, and continued to care for the hatchlings, but his mind was broken and his eyes blinded from colour and reason. Even his sense of smell seemed to waver, only perking when one of his dearest children would lay with him. One of his daughters, whose name he could not remember, lay with him whenever Rache was not around to dissuade her. WaterLilly was thankful for this, even if he could never say so; this smell of family and love was all he had left.
