Biography

...I know she's gone. I can't feel her presence anymore... I hardly remember the day we hatched. It seems so long ago. We were young, full of life. Not a care of the world could trouble us. It could never last... How could I be so blind to the truth? Why didn't I see what was so clearly before me?
They call it Exalting.
I was hardly grown when I heard the whispers. The sacrifices of young ones. Barely even old enough to truly live. It did not take me long to hear my sisters fate. It grieved me to learn she was marked. To be Exalted. Serve a higher cause... I only knew it as Murder.
Imperials are children of the Light, to lose my sister to Stormcatcher fills my veins with fury. To spend eternity in servitude to a... to a... I cannot begin to voice my agony. I have but one prayer to Lightweaver for the well being of my kin. Watch after my sister, though deaths barrier may separate us.
I remember the night. I begged her. Pleaded. Tears flowed freely. She would not come. She refused to believe me...
What could I do?
...
What could I have done...?
A storm was raging the night I left. A perfect evening for the Exalting to take place. Only too fitting was the weather for the occasion. For the dread I felt. It weighted my heart down, and filled my hallow bones with lead. I could feel the pain as the distance between us stretched farther. I can still hear the crack of the mighty thunder. Like a great whip extending across the night sky. As quickly as it appeared, it vanished. I felt a change... Something was wrong. It was then that I knew my sister was leaving... leaving me...
I got back as the rays of dawn seeped across the sodden earth. I am to this day ashamed I left my sister... alone... to a doomed fate. Her body lay gently on the ground, soft rises of her chest so faint. I knew there was nothing I could do. It was already too late. She was too far gone.
I wept bitterly as I complied with traditions of old. My head dipped low in a final farewell to my dying kin. Her breathing was ragged, and her eyes closed. I will never see them again... I will never see her again... The full force of it hit me. The finality of this death. I pull myself away choking back the sobs that threaten to tear through my soul.
I take off into the rays of dawn. The new light greeting my face and warming my scales. The Light that should bring comfort only shows me further the truth. This day would never again have my sister. Never. I know I need to leave the territory. Traditions of old must be honored.
It happened. Like a sigh. So small. Like the tickle of a breeze as it leaves you for pastures far away. This is when I knew. No matter how I wanted it to linger... I could say without a doubt...
The Exalting was complete.
Nothing I did could prepare me for the overwhelming emotions that surged through me. Anger. Grief. Pain. Sorrow. Loss. The storm began again. It seemed to mock me. Insult what was stolen from me. The very moment the spirit faded, the connection between my sister and me was gone... was the moment the thunder sounded.
I tore off blindly into the darkening sky. The Light had abandon me... No... The light was mourning my loss. Lightweaver was hiding the sun, and darkening the sky. The storm fought harder and I began to lose control to it. Trees snapped around in the fierce wind... rain pelted my hide in thick sheets. Little blades of ice cut me. The sleet was fast turning to hail. It is too dark to see. I can't hear anymore... All that surrounds me... is
Chaos.
