______ At the beginning, because there is always a beginning: Anuket and AughtNix coiled together for warmth in the darkness. Their claws were bloody and throats raw from clearing out the new lair of stalactites and vermin. They did everything this way. together and with all that was in them. That is why so many have begged to join their clan. That is why they are all so close. Beneath a cold scale lay a warm heart is what they say, tho not to her face. Anuket is as Icey as the tundra she crushes underfoot to those who do not have her favor.

______ Anuket was the personification and goddess of the Nile river in the Egyptian mythology.
