Biography
She sometimes calls herself 'Silver Magnolia' as she has a notable aptitude and affinity with the metal. This young Skydancer is a inveterate tinkerer and inventor, and a fairly skilled healer. She loves to find new technologies and magics, more than willing to explore anywhere to see what might lie hidden.
The black-scaled Imperial Nanashi has a somewhat inexplicable hold on her. Part of it is that her empathic nature feels instinctively that he needs someone to help push him through the darkness that clouds his heart. Part of it is also surely that his fears, self-doubt and angers draw her like a moth to flame. Healing is not only of the body, but the heart and soul as well. But neither of these seem to fully explain why she wishes to be with him as much as she does. It's almost as if he completes her. His caution tempers her exuberance, her optimism counters his dark moods.
She left her own home clan in the Shifting Expanse became overcrowded. Teachers were few and far-between there, and to learn all she could, it was not working out. When she first found a teacher, it did not end very well. She ultimately was lucky to survive the confrontation with him, with only the loss of her right arm and left eye, when she discovered him working darker magics than she realized. She woke days later, brought to the lairs of this clan by one that found her barely conscious after her escape.
This new clan helped her as much as they could, recognizing that she was against the dark secrets her former teacher had coveted. Once mostly recovered, she set out with a will to bend metal and healing magic to a new whole, forging herself a new arm and eye in the process. She set about with a will to help other crippled or injured dragons with the hard won knowledge she had gained. She felt sure she'd move on eventually, as other clans could benefit from her hard won knowledge.
But then, into this clan there came a woefully injured Imperial. He seemed be beyond saving in some ways, and seemed as dead to most. The only reason he'd been dragged off the battlefield was that there had been other imperials in the fight, and Light knew perhaps better than most what the risk was of leaving Imperial corpses lying about.
Magnolia, with the enhancements of her eye, she could see that his heart still beat, if barely, and so she set out to save him.
Unlike other dragons, however, when he finally regained consciousness, he was anything but grateful to anyone. Something had happened in that fight, in his own mind. It was a gaping wound to her empathy, and she couldn't ignore it. And so, she has remained in this clan since, helping those they rescue from dark places. She's remained because she believes in the cause of the clan, to expose dark secrets for the terrible truths they are and keep light in the world.
And because Nanashi needs her.
