Biography

Many, many moons ago Lumen was hired as a servant to a well-known ice royal family. She was to care after the princess. She had been very nervous about it, knowing that it would be a hard job. However, Princess Myst soon put her mind at ease and ensured her that she had nothing to worry about. Lumen did her best, and after a short time was promoted to being the princess's head maidservant. She was honored, and bore the title proudly.

However, after a brief time of happiness, the princess's mother disappeared. She wasn't able to find any answers behind the disappearance and feared the worst. She kept her eyes and ears open for anything that might provide answers. Her princess was so distraught, and she knew that any news would be the only thing that could help her.

A short while after the disappearance, Lumen was on her way to see the princess. By chance, she bumped into the king, also after the princess. He scowled at her, and she was instantly afraid. Backing away, she let him go to her. She scooted away to the kitchen figuring she could bring along something for the princess to nibble on, since she hadn't yet eaten that day. As she arrived, she saw the king's head servant mixing some powder into a pot of tea. He was friendly toward her, and they talked for a few minutes about nothing in particular. The other servant said that he had best be going, stating that the king was feeling a bit under the weather and was resting. He'd volunteered to bring him some warm tea with cold medicine, just to be safe.

As he slipped away, Lumen started to gather up an assorted tray of some of her favorite foods. All of a sudden, like a blot of lightning, it hit her. The king wasn't sick and in bed. He was up there with the princess. She ran to the trash to find the medicine packet. She smelled it, and instantly knew that it was not cold medicine. Bursting from the kitchen, she called out for help. Another one of the princess's servants was nearby and rushed to her upon hearing her calls. Starting to run, Lumen explained what she knew along the way. They came across the prince on the way, and he stopped them, and began to lecture them about being too fast and noisy in the hallways.

Lumen tried to explain that something was wrong, and his face showed concern. He asked them to come with him so that they could explain in private. He led them up a quiet hallway, and ushered them into a rarely used room, saying nobody would bother them in there. They stepped in, but to their terror he shut the door behind them without following them in. They heard the door lock, and the prince chuckling as he walked away. Terrified for the princess, Lumen threw herself against the door, with no luck. The other servant, enraged, was clawing at the window, screaming. Lumen screamed for her to get out of the way, and she broke through the window. Flying around, they got to the princess's balcony to see her being flown away by a lone captor, wrapped in rags. Racing after, they managed to catch up as they were landing.

Lumen set to work freeing the princess as the other in all of her rage began her attack. To their fear, the king was the one that had taken the princess. Focusing on getting the princess to safety, Lumen brought her away as her fellow servant was distracting the king. Only later did she learn that she had died that night, in sacrifice.

Myst and Lumen were both taken in by Viodia. They had been trying to stay under the radar, but as they were passing through a town to find a place to stay the night, she found them. Offered them refuge. They gladly took it. They haven't told anyone of their history, so Myst insists that Lumen no longer acts as her servant, but as her friend and equal. Lumen still tries to help the princess as much as she can, but she has adapted to now making clothing for their new, welcoming clanmates, as well as to sell at market.
