Biography

MENTEN
.
(because who wouldn't want to be manly?)

This Spiral is all about the looks, but not so much about the punches. Oh, Menten certainly appears tough and rough enough to be a coach, all dolled up in armour to perfectly match her eyes, and she speaks with a strong, rough accent - but she'd much rather talk fashion tips than wrestle bears. Still, what she does she does well - Manly McBro himself has found use for her as a clan morale-booster! Blessed with an incredible memory, she can give some pretty amazing speeches to the rest of the clan, though only if they've been prepared by someone else - true to form, her manly persona isn't the brightest bulb on the CHRISTMANS tree.

Menten idolizes anything and everything manly, which makes her an excellent spruiker for the clan's various services. Rumour has it that she is the one who writes Manly McBro's calls for MOAR MANS in the Dragons Wanted forum, but both vigorously deny this, pinning the blame on Sir Cuit instead. Rumour also has it that she is the one to feed the chained seer, Taki, and again she denies this.

To get the EPIC PUN that is her MANIFICENT name, check her parent's names. PortMANteau names really need to be banned okay

MenTen And The Beach Party: A Fantastic Tale of I Don't Know What Yet

(written as I experience the CYOA. No cheating~)

---

I. SandCastle

High noon was no time for another visitor, as far as SandCastle was concerned. It was much too late to do all the early morning things, and too early to do all the fun evening things. Still, as the orange Spiral came running over the dunes, the Guardian raised herself from the sand, letting it cascade in little (but highly impressive) waterfalls down her belly. Large wings, the colour of the ocean's darkest and deepest depths, unfurled. Nothing like the true size of the sea, of course, but large enough to give the Spiral some idea of what she was about to experience.

"Welcome to the Great Coral Reef Clan. My name is SandCastle and I-"

The Spiral dug her claws into the beach and did an epic, sick skid straight past SandCastle, flinging what felt like half the dune her way. The Guardian frowned, but nonetheless, allowed the sand to cascade in little (but highly impressive!) waterfalls down her belly. Large wings, the colour of the ocean's darkest and deepest depths... well, they were already unfurled. Maybe they weren't big enough-? Sandcastle held them out a bit further from her body, and went on with her speech - a little louder, now.

"My name is SandCastle, and I am the Visitor's Guide. The clan's territory is huge, so there is a lot to see..."

"NO TIME! I LOST MY BEAR"

The Spiral disappeared over the top of the next dune. Sandcastle sighed, and blew a smoke ring into the air. Beach Patrol could deal with this.

II. SeaOtter

"There is a lot going on above the water. And it doesn't quiet down at night either." Spoken like she'd said it a hundred times already, which - well, she had. SeaOtter smiled as brightly as she could, though. For guests, it was always their first time hearing it, so she might as well not look bored. Even if this elderly Snapper couple may or may not be paying her much attention. "We can begin exploring right now in the daytime or you can relax in that dragon hammock over there, on the beach, and explore once it gets dark."

"INCOMING!"

Coming? That was a funny thing for a guest to say, thought SeaOtter. She tilted her head to one side. "I'm sorry, you want to come where?"

A skinny orange Spiral in full battle armour shot straight past her. "OUTCOMING! INCOMING OVER THERE!"

"Oh. Huh. I guess you guys didn't say anything, huh?" SeaOtter smiled at her guests - much more tightly than before. "Wait here a moment. I'll just ask maintenance about... whatever that is."

----

III. SeaTurtle

"Oh! Are you hurt? Also- did you see an orange Spiral come this way?"

SeaOtter's large claws came down to feel around her wings, but SeaTurtle brushed her away; stared up at the blue, cloudless sky instead, now half-occupied by SeaOtter's head. That Spiral had definitely pushed upwards when she'd landed on her - she had to be up there, somewhere.

"...I wouldn't say I saw her coming, exactly." She sighed. "Not to worry, I'm sure the flight instructor will handle it."

With claws and teeth, preferably.

----

IV. Hawaii

"Today, we are practicing evasive manoeuvres!" Hawaii announced, trying to look very serious even though he knew it was just doing the loop-de-loop over and over. The rest of his class seemed to know it, too, which could be a problem for the instructor; one dragon on the ground was hard enough to keep in line, let alone ten in the air.

"OI"

Suddenly, Hawaii found himself having to execute an evasive manoeuvre of his very own, as a Spiral - definitely not in the class he was teaching, either - went rocketing straight upwards in front of his face, ruffling his feathers.

"LOST BEAR PATROL, COMING THROUGH"

A bear? In the sky? Above a tropical beach? Was this dragon okay? Jerking his head back, Hawaii thought fast, and grabbed her tail in his claw.

The Spiral crashed down on top of him, and her armour was heavy. Too heavy. oh no

Hawaii had little choice but to let go, but by then, it was too late; she was falling, and her grip on him was that of a dragon about to die. (Technically, they were both falling, but Hawaii wasn't about to admit that little thing.) "You need to steer towards the water!" he shouted to her, spreading his own wings in an attempt to glide down whilst holding her up. "Steer!"

"The bear!" she shouted. Her wings flipped open, finally, but she wasn't going to make it. A water landing, then. Hawaii narrowed his eyes, scanning for rocks beneath the waves. "Bro! Bro, the bear!"

"What bear?!?" Hawaii screeched, and, improbably enough, the roar of a great bruin answered him. He swept his head left, no, right, no, and... behind... in that giant wave about to break? Yes. Yes, of course.

"My bear!"

"Your bear?"

The Spiral looked quite pleased to see the bear. The bear looked... bearribly ferocious and about to lunge at them both. There was nothing for it, but to try and dive under it. Cursing as quietly as he could, Hawaii tucked in his wings, took a deep breath, and went for the sandy bottom.

Except the Spiral slipped from his grasp and went up, presumably to surf a giant, unsurfable wave full of unsurfable bear. Because of course this was the one time he hadn't given an instruction, the one time he'd assumed a dragon would know what to do. Of course. Of course.

Somewhere high above him, the wave broke.

V. Pipeline

Well, this was an interesting bit of driftwood. It was orange, for one thing. And noodle-y. And- hang on, that was a dragon, wasn't it? Pipeline grinned at his own foolishness, his tail scuffing at the sand in a kind of wagging motion.

"Hey, wake up. I think I'd better take you over to Flotsam and Jetsam. Not that you're uh, debris or anything."

-cyoa breaks here - I can't get past the 'Deliver debris' option'-
