Legacy
To Cressida, home was once a paradise that had been long forgotten. She still remembered it so clearly; they entered silently in the night, when nobody was expecting it. When nobody was prepared. She remembered the feeling of bitter loss, and of remorse. Most of all, staring at her fallen clan, she remembered feeling helpless. What could she do, if she couldn’t even protect them? This was the burden she carried into her new home. Doubt and guilt pressed down upon her, even as the days she once cherished faded into memory. She was surprised when he approached her. He was a father to many, though related to few. What business did he have with someone like her, who had failed those she had held most dear? Gradually, he showed her a new family, and allowed her to protect it alongside him. The third member of their little group came a while later. She had never known a loving home, and didn’t seem to have high hopes for this place, either. Her name was Lillivera, and it took her months to find the strength to open up. When she did, however, she blossomed. The new home suited her well and, at last, she and Estabon had another dragon to fight beside.

Home is not where you decide to settle, or where you were born. Home is a place you create. Together, it is the place that they protect.
