Sure, he may care in a very strange way, almost to the point of not seeming to care or as though he is trying to make you hate him, but sappy is weak. He hides his intentions behind his troublemaking facade, so he is commonly considered inconsiderate and cruel.
He is complex and if you can't understand his ways, so be it.
