Ventus was created with a simple purpose: serve their mistress and gather magic. The spiral-like entity was frequently send out to harvest magic from the world around them, contain it and give it to their mistress, who would use half of it to remain young and beautiful, and half to make Ventus stronger.

The stronger the entity became, the more tedious their quests became, until their mistress ordered them to start hunting down entities like themselves to gather even more magic, which was already higly concentrated.

The entity did, not minding or caring for the fact most were self-aware, capable of emotion and did not wish to die. They did not feel regret as they took their ‘lives’.

They weren’t capable of emotion themselves.

All went well, until Ventus ran into two especially tricky entities, who managed to outsmart them every single time they encountered the other two. Tricky and mischievous, the two entities tricked the spiral-like entity into many things.

Into learning how to feel...
Into gaining a free will and self-awareness...
Into learning to understand life…

Finally, the two had a final enounter, and did not flee from Ventus. The spiral-like being… did not want to harm them, and vowed to return to their mistress to explain to her they would no longer steal the lives of magical entities such as themselves.

The confrontation did obviously not go as Ventus had hoped it’d go- and they discovered on that day that unlike them, living dragons died quite easily…

After that...not much happened for what felt like centuries. Ventus cannot be killed- and watched as the world changed and shifted.

Until they had an encounter with the same two dragon who taught them about life.

Angered, the spiral-like being blamed the two for all the misfortune and emptiness they felt for the many years they had been alone, exclaiming that everything had been so much easier when they didn’t have a free will yet. The red entity didn’t let Ventus’s words bother him, but the seemingly younger one did, and the two of them became something akin to each other’s worst enemies, rivals, friends and brothers.

Their relationship was…. Interesting to say the least.

For many years the three wandered together, until they came upon another entity such as themselves. They seemed to lack emotion and free will, just like Ventus had once been. While back then he had barely cared for the thrill of the hunt, he actually enjoyed it now- and enjoyed seeing how the entity slowly but surely became... more emotional, and gained a free will and a personality of their own. This sparked an idea with the spiral-like entity.

What if they could create a place that would draw in entities such as themselves, and teach them about emotion and freedom?

The other two agreed, and after talking it over, it was decided that the oldest one of the three would be in charge of it, whereas Ventus and the younger one would be like 'teachers'.

Their plan resulted in many, MANY entities learning not just to feel emotion, but also how to disguise themselves as normal dragons, what magic was safe to use and what WASN'T, how to blend in while staying true to themselves... the usual.

Rumor spread of a magic school, where many exceedingly well-known and powerful mages had studied, and it wasn't long before odinary dragons flocked towards it, wishing to learn among the ones that taught legends. Obviously the founders were concerned, and the red entity decided that all would have to prove themselves worthy. A life-or-death test had been implemented, and only the ones who survived after a short introductory course (lasting three months) would gain access to the same education as the entities- though a HIGHLY modified version to disguise the fact most entities really didn't learn much about magic, but rather about social aspects.

Furthermore, the entities which the school was MEANT for were kept seperate from the dragons attending.

Thousands of years passed since that time, and many still know of 'the praying mantis' as an area where many legendary mages, witches and otherways magically adept dragons studied, but none know where it is located.

...or about the three founders who still live and teach there today.
