~The Shade-Walker~
Athear is a quiet dragon. She knows how to use the shadows to her full advantage. Martivir is wary of her only because she hardly ever seen in the clan. She is very sneaky. Athear is loyal and tries to make the Clan Mother proud. She is a merciless warrior.
...
Backstory
Athear first joined Clan Kazinsky as a young adult out of a desire to learn better fighting techniques from tthe clan mother Martivir, one of the most skilled warriors in the area. Athear was already a master of stealth, a trait that sometimes made her clan matriarch distrustful of her. Despite Martivir's misgivings, Athear was a powerful addition to the clan, and she protected them with all of her considerable skill. She fell in love with the guardian dragon Four, and they had a single son, who Athear named Suturi. Suturi was a momma's boy, and he and Athear were very close.
Suturi joined the Shadowbinder's service once he was old enough, and though Athear missed him, they kept in touch via letter. They mailed each other often, and Suturi told Athear of his many successes in the service. This regular back and forth went on for a while, but one day Athear's letter went unanswered for many weeks. She eventually received a letter from Suturi's commander, saying he had been promoted: one of the generals, impressed with the stealth and subtly Suturi had learned from his mother, had assigned to an undercover position in a dangerous location. The commander warned Athear not to worry, and told her the Suturi was their best and would be okay, but this didn't stop Athear from constantly fretting about him. She often left the clan to visit the Shadowbinder's war camps, to glean what little information she could about her son's situation.
One day Athear returned to find that Martivir had called a clan meeting. Martivir presented her plan: having taught her clan members all she could about the ways of the shadows, she would send them out into the world to spread her teachings. Athear had hoped to find a nearby clan for her and Four to stay at so they could remain close to their son's base camp, but Four had different ideas, and his new ideas didn't involve her. Four left Athear to travel on the winds once more without anything, or anyone, to weight him down. Athear was devastated, but she had to move on, literally, so she followed Vaeviar and Itov to Clan Phantom.
Athear's skills were an asset to her new clan, and Wraith never seemed bothered that she left often to visit Suturi's camp. She was assigned to share a den-cave with Azureclaw, a reserved skydancer shaman who was always tinkering with the supernatural. Curiosity finally overcame her quietness, and the two began to talk a little. As it turned out, they both had experienced failed relationships, and they bonded over their mistakes. Their quiet friendship grew into a quiet romance, and the two eventually pledged to be bondmates, and to make it work this time. Azureclaw and Athear have raised two clutches to date, with a total of five hatchlings, and they couldn't be happier.
Athear is reserved and calm, rarely voicing her feelings to anyone save Azureclaw. She is wary of strangers, particularly those with ties to the other flights' dominance forces, as she can't help but wonder if they will every cross paths with Suturi. Her worries have been somewhat alleviated by a spell of Azureclaw's design that lets her know if her firstborn is still alive, a gift that Athear considers priceless. Athear's shadow magic is considerably powerful, enough so to allow her to become completely invisible. This skill has earned her the title "shade-walker" among those who know her in the battle camps.
