Spinel came from the Southern Icefield; her Clan being wary and distrustful of strangers due to Fire Flight and Lightning Flight members affecting their homeland.

However, she was curious about the other areas of Sornieth and took off to find a place that caught her attention as well as a home. She will not return to her Clan as she won't be welcomed back for leaving.

She flew all over in her search until she flew into Zelkova. Well, Zelkova actually flew into her because he was flying from an angry enemy Beastclan. Both were able to recover before any harm could happen and Spinel aided Zelkova in getting away safely.

Zelkova led her to the Clan, where she was invited to stay for helping one of their own. After a few days, she decided that she would stay and help the Clan. It wasn't lost on her that she joined a Clan that was of one of the Flights that drew her original clan's anger.

Spinel revealed that she discovered that she could never get lost while flying. She thinks that despite being of Ice Flight, she can somehow tap into the electrical currents of the planet. She does work under Spira, but also helps both Zelkova and Jade with their duties. She also is a body guard for the two, as sometimes an extra claw is necessary. Due to her crystallized silver hide, she can fly high into the sky and blind enemies on the return trip down. Jade has told her that she seems to have the colors of the sun hitting a snowbank along the coast. Galena and Citrine both gave her flower gifts that won't die and can survive in frigid temperatures.

All three (Spinel, Zelkova and Jade) became close and have agreed to consider each other as mates. If one isn't happy, all aren't happy.

Spinel did allow some in the Mechanics Subdivision to place metal on parts of her head and wings to better see how she can know where she is at all times. It was confirmed that she does tap into electrical currents and the electricity harmlessly crackles across her wings.

Spinel was awarded a crown for aiding a hunting and gathering party from the Clan during a blizzard, as it was her that knew the way out, preventing them from freezing to death.
