Koi is a skilled fish keeper, with a love for anything that swims, the more unusual the better. He himself bears a certain grace in the water and flowing fin-like quality to his wings that seems to denote a kinship with them. Both Koi and Kohaku had found each other on the Southern Icefields and had eventually decided to strike out and learn all about the distant shores that the trading dragons brought in their stories and tales.

Koi decided to put his inventive skills to use by working with Kohaku to help keep more sea creature than just fish. Shrimp, rays, crabs, seahorses and all sorts of other creatures blossomed under their combined care. Koi is an expert in the most unusual methods of care, from nurturing pondfuls of plankton for the filter feeders to eat, to imbuing the water with magic for the Arcane varieties of fish who thrive on it. He can even be persuaded to allow his excess stock to pass to those dragons who prefer eating fish to watching them, adding new delicacies to the table and more trade to be had.
