As a Ridgeback, very few dragons would ever be inclined to harass Dust, and her imposing demeanor tends to keep even those few away. Her expression remains unnervingly-serious, her willpower and stubbornness is a thing of legend... And she also secretly is a complete prankster with a love of truly awful and cheesy jokes. Of course, almost no dragon ever suspects a dragon so uncomfortably serious to be the type to pull pranks on her clanmates; quite to the contrary, they usually look to her to stop them, much to her amusement. Only Euls and the hatchlings of the clan--including her own, Lance and Arrow--ever seem to suspect her, and to her? It's a riot to see the other adults so confused when they, yet again, find themselves getting drenched by a water trap, or go back to their rooms only to find the floor completely blanketed in feathers of dubious origin. (But it's always reasonably-innocent things like that, though. She's a prankster, not a jerk.) For all that she loves having fun in her own way, though, she has the most serious of jobs, and always devotes the extra time and care to them. Armor and weapons don't forge themselves, after all, and one doesn't win a fight without giving it the full attention it deserves...and hatchlings can rarely be persuaded to eat properly like their little bodies need to if she doesn't get at least a bit serious with them from time to time. It's the hatchlings and those too small or weak to defend themselves that she's the most devoted to of all, save for her own family; she has heard and seen enough of what happens to them when dragons much stronger and crueler decide to harass them, and she won't stand for it now or ever. It means that she gets plenty of good-natured teasing from her dearest Euls about being a mother hen, of course, but it's all right by her. She knows what he means by it, and he's always out to just make her laugh or smile when she needs it. And he's such an amusing Spiral that honestly, she can't help herself sometimes! She feels lucky to have a dragon so intelligent but quick on his paws and in the air, in a fight...even if she had initially dismissed him as just a "little Spiral" in their first duel with one another. She doesn't regret being intrigued and following him back to this clan at all. This clan is home, as long as her family's here. |
