Riptide never truly intended to lead anybody. He simply wanted to live in peace with Sunshine, his other and in many respects better half, but the world didn't have that in plan for them. Despite originating in the Windswept Plateau, they found that the peaceful, idyllic life didn't fully suit them, nor did the constant threat of their favourite scrolls being blown away. They still live as nomads and roam the lands, but it's becoming more difficult the more their clan grows and evolves.

It started out with them picking up a stray in the form of Sia, who they adopted as their daughter, and they soon became a clan of misfits who didn't want to be alone, but didn't necessarily wish to be a part of a greater good. They remain fluid, at least, with a few core members who seem to be sticking around permanently - Sunshine is more sympathetic to their additions than Riptide, but he's willing to tolerate and lead them for her sake. She's their true leader, but because of Riptide's stature and battle scars, they turn to him more often than not.
