Dakota has a fascinating contrast between light and dark, since his primary is so dark but his secondary is much lighter. Since his overall color scheme leans heavily towards darker colors, it gives the illusion that his wings themselves are darker than they are, simply because dark blues and dark purples are the most present. However, despite this visual illusion, his light wings suit him very well, because they provide some balance that, while easy to overlook, makes everything about him stand out more than nothing but dark colors could do by themselves. The ebony filigree banner looks especially good on him, since it echoes both the blues and purples in his color scheme, but I think the dark metal really gets the closest to the deep intensity of his midnight primary. Although it's harder to see against his primary, the swirls of midnight smoke on his wings stand out dramatically, and enhance the effects of his birdskull wingpiece. Although those are what tip his color scheme firmly into dark rather than light, it's plain to see that they need each other, since the dark lines of his smoke would have been all but invisible if his secondary were as dark as his primary.
