A Very Grumpy Birb
A Very Grumpy Birb

![]() |
Personality: Odd is one way to describe Nimbus. His history is one that can easily explain his love of shiny things and his strange obsession with birds. He can't seem to get used to being around dragons. He is a kind and gentle dragon, especially with his birds, but his overall attitude towards dragons is a little... off. He sometimes growls and hisses if a dragon gets too close to his collection of birds. His love for his feathered brothers and sisters knows no bounds. He cares for birds more than dragons. No one can really blame him, however. His history gives him a pretty good reason for his obsession, but sometimes, some wished he would stop thinking he was a Harpy. Because of his love of birds and thinking he is a Harpy, he has become the clan's main ambassador when it comes to stranger Harpy clans. Nimbus is fine with that, as he loves talking to other Harpies and gossiping about how stupid dragons are. He believes he is a Harpy so much that sometimes, others can't help but agree that he might actually be a Harpy, just born the wrong species. Still, no one can really hate Nimbus. Even with his off behavior, he makes himself likable if just by being himself. He never gets in anyone's way and always tries to be helpful when he notices the clan needs some assistance. After all, they could always use the help of a Harpy, who couldn't? It is important to note that Nimbus is not silly, nor faking, not stupid. He is a very intelligent dragon with a lot of talent for navigation and mathematics, but his upbringing has left him a little on the strange side. Dragons that tell him he is a dragon will only get a laugh. He knows he's not a dragon, and he isn't. He was raised a Harpy and thus he is one, there's nothing more to know about it. He may have the looks and skills of a Wildclaw, but in reality, he is a Harpy, through and through. No matter what someone says, they will never change his mind about that. |
His egg was left abandoned when his former clan moved to a new home. Yet he was not to be left alone for long. A dragon friendly Harpy clan that lived in the area had been nesting close to his nesting grounds, and they found his egg. His parents—the real ones—found his egg and took it back to their clan, showing the other Harpies. When he hatched, his parents were shocked, but they kept him anyway and raised him in the traditional culture of the Harpies of the Earthen lands. Nimbus grew up traveling with them, learning with them, eating with them. As far as he was concerned, he was a Harpy. He never really knew dragons until he met them with his parents, but he never felt close to dragons. In fact, he never had the desire to go find his birth clan. They weren't his family. The Harpies were.
When he was young, about half of his size now, a clan of dragons thought he was a prisoner and tried to take him back. The fight he put up astonished them to the point of leaving him alone. Not because he kicked and screamed like a dragon being kidnapped, but like a Harpy. Once he was freed of the dragon's clutches, he rushed back home and told his parents. They were not too happy, but didn't make a fuss. They set Nimbus down and told him they thought it was time he joined a dragon clan. It was obvious that he was a dragon, and he knew he was by species, but not by heart and soul. His parents told him that they talked to other Harpy clans, dragon friendly and anti-dragon. They agreed to not harm him or the clan he chose. With a heavy heart, Nimbus agreed to go clan searching with his parents.
They took him around from clan to clan, until he found one in Arcane he liked. His parents were in another country, yes, but the trip was only a few weeks or so. They agreed to let him stay and talked to the clan leaders, making sure their son would be safe and happy in the clan grounds. Then they left, leaving him a few birds as a going away present. Nimbus began his education about the dragon world, but he found it rather boring. Compared to the Harpy culture he grew up with, it was boring and old. Using magic to fight was just as old. He preferred to use his claws and teeth. Still, he knew his parents would want him to put forth the effort, so he does. He has started a nice collection of more birds, softly talking to them in a language they understand the best. Some say he is building an army. They are correct. An army of adorable.
