Biography

They found her egg in the aftermath of a brutal Coliseum fight, on a battlefield strewn with bodies. When she hatched, some of the other dragons found her red eyes unnerving. The Coliseum teams shook their heads at such superstition. 'She's a Guardian. It doesn't matter what color her eyes are, she's one of us, she'll protect the clan' said Elder Vanessaril in his rough way. The other dragons deferred to their elder, thinking the red eyes might be an advantage for intimidating enemies.

When it became clear that the young dragon did not have any desire to fight, the other dragons did not know what to make of her. 'We're guardians. Fighting is our job!' they cried. Blight, for her red eyes earned her this sinister appellation, shook her head. 'No, our job is not to fight. It is to guard, and there are many ways to protect the clan. I don't want to fight, I'll be a healer instead.' And in spite of all the head-shaking and confusion among the other dragons, that is exactly what she did.

Now there is no one in the clan who even thinks twice about Blight's eyes, or even her refusal to fight. Instead, she is the beloved clan physician, healer of the broken and soother of the bruised. The hatchlings and familiars adore her; in fact, it got to the point where they wouldn't leave her alone to do her work, so she started wearing tatters and a mask while working. It doesn't really scare them, but it indicates to them that now is not the time to bother her. Additionally, the mask makes her eyes look green, which secretly pleases her; Blight has never cared about her red eyes, but she wants to make sure her patients do not fear her.

Blight's bandages are also an indication of her love for young dragons; whenever she has to tend to an injured youngster, she lets them wrap a bandage on her after she wraps one on them. The bandages end up covered in the blood of her patients, but she doesn't mind. Blight knows it is her calling to protect the lair by healing their wounds, and a little gore is a small price to pay for a healthy clan.
