A garden to walk in
and immensity to dream in--
what more could he ask?
A few flowers at his feet
and above him the stars.

◆
Pyxis was one of the oldest members of Minas Brassen, taken in as an abandoned hatchling when it still resided in the crumbling ruins of Light territory. He was originally Chantha's ward; she hand-picked him to become her apprentice, teaching him how to scavenge and defend the clan's territory. However, he turned out to be a bit gangly, awkward, and quiet -- not exactly the fierce, stoic hunter she imagined. During his training he stumbled into the lair's greenhouse and instantly fell in love with plants and growing things, and soon his room was filled with stacks of field journals, the rich perfume of drying flowers, and a salvaged microscope for more minute observations. He would still followed Chantha on her excursions, but preferred cataloging native foliage to the blood and heat of battle.
One day as they were scavenging, they came across a particularly violent centaur herd. Pyxis would have liked to speak with them, but the older Wildclaw instantly recognized them as a radical dragon-hating group and moved to protect him. The centaur herd thundered toward them, spears glinting in the harsh sun. Chantha held them off at great cost, and they barely escaped with their lives. Though they lived, Chantha's wounds never quite healed due to some strange Beastclan spell. Her death was quite hard on Pyxis, and he has never fully recovered. In mourning he planted a garden in her final resting place, pouring every ounce of his gardening magic into the flowers so they would bloom eternally, regardless of weather or season.
Pyxis has since sworn off fighting, and longed for a peaceful home where he could study all manner of green growing things. He was distinctly unhappy with the move from Light to Water, reluctant to leave Chantha's garden and his first home. The remote lair above the choppy waves of the Sea of a Thousand Currents gave him little happiness, and there were few plants to study there. His dream was to travel to the Viridian Labyrinth and categorize all of its flora; fortunately for him, he has instead found his peace within the looming Spires of the Strand.
