From the Meet the Dragon thread: As a young hatchling Bliminal was kidnapped from her home in the Sunbeam Ruins and brought deep into the Southern Icefield (by slave traders? some other nefarious group?). She managed to escape and run away, but was unprepared for the world she stumbled into. After several days of traveling the frozen wasteland, weak from hunger and sustaining several injuries from the local wildlife, she encountered a hoarfrost mauler. She would have been killed then and there... but out of some unknown instinct, she used her Light magic to intensify the sun's rays, melting the icy shards on the animal's back. The mauler felt a relief from pain it had never known in it's life, and became sympathetic towards it's healer. He nursed her back to health the best a mauler can and she survived the experience, though she still carries many scars, and her wings have never worked quite the same again. She grew up traveling the icefields with her new friend, the mauler providing protection and teaching her survival strategies, while she continually bent her powers to prevent the ice from reforming on the bear's back. (It turns out the shards are produced by skin glands that continuously secrete liquid, which freezes once in contact with the arctic air. Therefore her mauler's fur is usually wet.) Over time she has learned to master her abilities, which now pose a threat to the area she lives, if she continues to stay there. After all these years, it may be finally time for her to return home... |
