As a hatchling, Nebulus was a soft-spoken, kind individual. He was always willing to help those that needed it, and never had a rude word to any dragon he came across. His home clan was small and cozy, nestled right in the middle of the Hewn City- a dark and desolate place within the Light territory. Not the most typical home for a clan, but they managed to make it hospitable. Nebulus spent most of his life here, working to help better the clan, until a visiting Plague dragon brought with it a disease. Soon after the dragon’s departure, the clan members began to fall ill and die one by one. Nebulus was away at the time of the visit, and returned to find the clan in shambles. He was urged by his dying parents to leave and not return, that this place was dangerous to him now. Reluctantly, he flew off, in search of a new, safer home. Secretly, Nebulus had promised himself that he would never reside in or near or even WITH any Plague dragons after one had decimated his home. However, after searching for months without finding a clan that would suit him, he swallowed his pride and allowed himself to join Abhilfe, led by an exceptionally kind Mirror named Rirasul and Guardian named Zelekel. They welcomed him with open arms, and quickly, he settled into his new home, surprised at the generosity and hospitality they had shown him. ________________________________________ |

Years passed, and the clan thrived. One day, a Guardian arrived to the clan, weary and injured. In an instant, Nebulus was at her side, helping her into the territory and guiding her to a secluded area to be tended to. Nebulus visited her every day and eventually learned that her name was Arabella and that she was from the Southern Icefields. She then further explained that she was believed to be cursed and had left her clan to prove them wrong. Hearing this hurt Nebulus- how could such a sweet dragon have something as drastic as a curse pinned on her? As time continued to pass, Nebulus and Arabella gradually fell for each other and became mates, bringing forth many hatchlings. However, these hatchlings died soon after reaching adulthood, seemingly driven mad by the climate they were in. This disheartened Arabella, who had started to further believe that she was, indeed, cursed. Gradually, she became more reclusive and lost her bright, bubbly personality. Nebulus remained by her side, remaining for days on end when she couldn’t bring herself to move. Life had gradually grown harder for Abhilfe. Scuffles and fights broke out almost daily and the leaders were nowhere to be seen. Nebulus remained next to Arabella, only occasionally leaving to check on the rest of the clan. On one of his strolls, he caught a glimpse of a new pair of dragons, a female Skydancer and a male Pearlcatcher, wandering into the clan. He avoided speaking to them, sensing that something was off about them. Upon returning to his and Arabella’s cove, he found her concerned as well, saying that she had seen them walk in and found their appearances disconcerting. ________________________________________ |

Months passed, and gradually, the other members of the clan began to grow more savage. Nebulus had managed to remain calm and under the radar, staying out of sight of the pair that had stolen the leadership of the clan from Rirasul and Zelekel. He had only received light punishments for transgressions, due to the reasoning that he was caring for a sick mate. Eventually, the leaders grew impatient with the lack of recovery of Arabella and presented Nebulus with a choice- either she would be cast out from the clan and used as bait for the now-bloodthirsty members of the clan, kill her himself, or watch her be killed in front of him and then be killed himself. Hesitantly, he agreed to kill her, and, upon returning to the cove, begged her to run under the cover of night. When she disagreed, he confessed that the leaders had marked her for death due to her weakness and inability to act. Before she could react to defend herself, Nebulus attacked and killed her, dragging her body out of the cove for the leaders to see. Arabella’s death broke Nebulus. A dragon that was kind and generous is now cold and bloodthirsty. He spends his time as a fighter and assassin now, able to disable and kill other dragons without a second thought. He collects the skulls of dragons he kills, decorating his once warm cove with the sight and smell of death. ________________________________________ |
