Enigma's parents were medics, and he felt pressured to follow in their footsteps when he was young. Eventually he realised that he was the only one that would invest in his future. Soon after, he destroyed parts of his pearl in embarrassment, adding his new history over the damaged part in his own ciphers. Consequently, he has no memory of most of his childhood.

Since joining the Glittering Gloom, Enigma has quietly found his confidence. When in the Starfall Isles he very much kept to himself, but in the shadows he has blossomed into a fine dragon. His clanmates accept his quirks and spells of amnesia, and hatchlings marvel at his unique pearl. He now happily hands out puzzles to his eager clanmates, thoroughly enjoying seeing them work together to find the solutions, then racing back for more. The Ghostglimmer Carnival appreciates his work, as well, he even has his own stall where he challenges patrons to test their problem-solving abilities. However, things can go pear-shaped when he forgets the solutions, but with some effort from friends they soon manage to work things out between them.
