Biography

Queen of all she surveys, Astarte is a creature of perfection. That her regency is neither recognized nor acknowledged by the rest of the clan is of little consequence; compared to her brilliance, they are but worms crawling upon the earth, blind to her grace and beauty. Purity of color breeds excellence, she says, and her own plumage, gleaming in a thousand shades of navy, is proof enough of that. Like most Coatls, she values bright colors. Unlike most Coatls, she values bright colors only in uniformity; clashing or mismatched hues are jarring to her discerning eyes. Such pedestrian combinations, after all, occur only in the unworthy. As such, she lives largely alone, elevated from the majority of the clan by an inordinate sense of superiority.

She accepts into her company only other dragons of single colors. Hadad is her most favored companion, and the two make for a rather proud and terrifyingly judgmental couple. Despite the irregular patterning of his scales, Slick is another trusted and accepted ally, though Astarte disapproves strongly of his tendency to interact freely with all the other clan members. As an esteemed Triple, such behavior is really quite beneath him. Wander would be included in her court if not for the fact that he crosses paths with the main body of the clan so infrequently that most dragons forget he's even a member of it. His unsociable tendencies and feral lifestyle leave much to be desired as well, and until he improves his behavior Astarte cannot consider him a true representative of the ideal she is hoping to achieve.

For all her haughtiness and self-imposed segregation from the clan, Astarte does not have nearly the impact on it that she imagines herself to have. Most of the other dragons ignore her, given that she does literally nothing for the clan; in general, not even Shadira bothers with her. That's all the better as far as Astarte is concerned; she hates looking at all those drab feathers anyways.
