Biography
|
Uh-oh, looks like this peace-loving, tiger-striped spiral wandered a little too far from his lair (116155, TykiElric), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. The young spiral, Burgundy, was restless ever since he was aware of his surroundings. His father would tell him and his siblings stories about his own travels, and all five of them wanted to follow in their father's wingstrokes. As soon as they were grown, his siblings left the clan to fight. He, however, decided to try to make friends instead of foes with the other clans and went off on his own. Shortly after leaving, he saw brilliant kites and balloons in the distance accompanied with music and the sound of chimes. The Mistral Jamboree. What better time to get acquainted with those in the wind clans. As he circled the skies, searching for a place to stay, he was waved down by a friendly fae who greeted him with bamboo skewers of roasted meat and candied insects. She then led him to a warm fire where members of clan had gathered to exchange stories. The sight of a newcomer resulted in piles of hatchlings eagerly waiting for him to tell his. Although being put on the spot made him uncomfortable, he obliged. It was true wind dragons had a great interest in the arts. Although the clan offered for him to stay as long as he wanted, the new traveler was eager to move on and see more of the world. After a day with his new friends he bid them farewell. He rode an errant wind northward into the Sunbeam Ruins, riding the great updrafts that surged from the Sea of a Thousand Currents. It wasn't the most comfortable way to travel--tossed unceremoniously through great gusts of air much stronger than his wiry muscles--but the little traveler wasn't deterred in the slightest. It was quite exciting, riding the great currents of air. He was almost disappointed when the wind dropped him near the southern wall of the Sundial Terrace. He stayed with one of the clans there, feasting upon a small share of dried insects that was a bit of a letdown after the decadent treats from the wind clan. While he considered staying longer, the breezes that passed through the terrace called to him, beckoning him to be off once more. On the afternoon of his third day, he was off to continue his adventure. At first he thought the ground was bleeding, hot currents gushing through the dark brown crust. The heat was nearly unbearable, and he had to take ground early, as the fumes above were too stark to navigate through. Strangers gave him directions to the closest hospitable clan, Clan Huldra, which housed a large bazaar. It wasn't large. It was huge. While Burgundy spent only a mere two weeks in the clan, it was more than enough time to make friends with other travelers - by the end of it, he had exchanged stories with Delta, Jaded and Apollo, who were all enjoying the exquisite wares and diverse cultures of this marketplace just as much as he. After a time, he moved on again, following the great cracks in the earth that eventually lead him to the edge of the great lake of the Wyrmwound. The very air smelt of rot, but he quickly learned to breathe only through his mouth. Dodging puddles of...stuff got tiring fast, and the only reason he didn't end up falling in one himself was from the help of Rose and Patagonia, two females who were themselves wanderers in their own rights. They led him to where they were staying and so Burgundy ended up at the feet of an Ancient lair, the Crossroad of the Worlds. There, he spoke with metallic titans and dragons who claimed to be from other worlds and other forms. Throughout it all, he was watched by the clan leader Ikol, a dragon who'd only grin when asked why his name said "Loki" backwards. Over time he learned that Ikol too had been a traveller in his youth, and spent many days listening to the imperial as they soared over the rotting plains. While there he even bred with a beautiful Pearlcatcher. Their hatchlings took after him in looks and eventually in personality as they left to serve the Plaguemother. |
