Uh-oh, looks like this mad king wandered a little too far from his lair (#8057, Shadifax), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Shadifax

Ignorant.

They're all so ignorant.

"You need to leave," murmured the metal one, with a tone cold enough to rival her own steel body.

No explanation was given to the deluded monarch, but even he knew better than to argue with her leering over Dreamscar's shoulder.

So he turned, and with a venomous sneer, he left.

That's all well for them. He had a nice enough stay in that wretched clan, anyway, didn't he? He'd spoken his words. He'd sharpened his claws against flesh and bone. He'd even met a little dragon who had given into his lure, if only briefly-- not long enough to let the damage sink in, but that was okay, because he would be back.

He'd left his impression.

Mm, he let his angry doubt slip to the back of his mind as he crawled through the brambles, tendrils of Shade beginning to bloom across his mottled scales.

"I will leave my trail throughout the regions, and I will spread my name, and they will learn to fear, and they will learn to regret, and when I return, they will remember me."

Dalison

The first place he crawled to was the lair of some familiar faces - a place where he'd had some measure of authority, albeit without respect.

"I'm travelling," he told the leader. "You've taken travellers. What is it like?"

"It'll suit you," she told him. "But why? You fit right in at Eventide.

"We had a disagreement," he sneered.

"Forsaken kicked you out?"

He narrowed his eyes, but didn't correct her. He didn't speak of it. "You've gotten smarter, pretty bird," he said instead, reaching out to touch her. She scoffed and turned away from him. His wings quivered with a jolt of repressed rage. This one was not his anymore. Another time, perhaps. He would be back again.

There was no use lingering, mulling over his dark luck. Now was not the time. In less than an hour, he was fluttering away, out of the tangled wood.

Cascaedian

Kaelum peers at this strange visitor, sees the dark swirls of something that is "not right" on the Nocturne's body. He recognizes the names that this mad king spouts. Eventide... he had heard of them back when his Clan had still resided in the Tangled Woods. And what he had heard hadn't been entirely pleasant.
Azrael is not allowed to enter the clan's lair that night; instead, at the outskirts of this clan's territory, he encounters a strange Pearlcatcher who offers him shelter until morning comes.

"What are you doing?" he asks, intrigued despite himself. The answer he receives is curious indeed.

"I am recording the lives of millions who will never know me."

The Pearlcatcher offers him a gift the next morning, before Azrael departs.

"The Umbral Wreath suits you."

Kelnarlie

After his departure from the Pearlcatcher, Azrael found himself once again in shadowy embrace of Wispwillow Grove. He didn't have to travel far before he came across an angry matriarch pacing in the area.

"You!" She growled as soon as he approached "Outssssider, have you ssseen my child?!"
Azrael shook his head, wondering if the child has left his lair just as he has.

"Liesssss!" The overprotective mother hissed. "You took him! Where is he!? What did you do to my hatchling!?!" She looked as if she was about to attack him. Azrael readied himself, he wasn't about to be taken down by some crazy mirror in the forest. But... He didn't want to provoke an entire lair either. So he waited, on the defensive. They locked eyes and started pacing in a circle, each waiting for the right moment to strike.

Tension was rising.

Thankfully before anything could happen, the hoarse voice called out from behind the mirror. A worried looking guardian walked out of the bushes. "There you are my dear, what has gotten into you? And who is this?"

"He sssstole our child! Our preciousss Talen!"

The guardian looked at Azrael, and back at his mate. Although Azrael does look like he belongs on the evil side, but so does many things in the Tangled Woods. With a sigh, the guardian apologized for his mate (who was still eyeing Azrael with distrust.) and offered him a nice meal before sending him on his way.
As he left their lair. He heard murmuring from within the grove.
"Maybe Talen will find us one day, dear. But first, let's move out of these dark woods, it's really getting to your head."

kdskid003

Azrael crept towards Clan Grimm, hesitantly. Everywhere he'd been so far wasn't very welcoming or promising. He watched a dark blue Imp tying herself in knots as another dragon approached. The Imp stopped tying herself in knots long enough to meet Azrael's gaze. "Hello stranger," she trilled, emerald green eyes searching him. "I'm Adele, this is my cousin Coriander," she added, straightening out.
The light blue Coatl glared at him, "Adele, you know that he's nothing but trouble. I say turn him away before anything bad happens." he stated.
A little Nocturne darted over, "Aunt Adele, have you seen Caelum? I... I lost track of him and he's wandering around here somewhere," the words tumbled out of her mouth.
Adele glanced around, "I don't see him. You'd better go and find him Dendria."
Azrael looked back, "Would that be him?" he asked, pointing in that direction.
Dendria's eyes lit up, "Yessssss," she squeaked, "Thank youuuu," she darted off and guided the pale wildclaw away.
Azrael shifted on his feet, "I'll just be going then," he murmured, turning to go. It was obvious that they already had some sort of leader around. They wouldn't take kindly to a mad king roaming around.
"Wait!" Adele called, "You've got to stay. At least for the night. You've helped us far more than you'll ever know," she stated, "that was Cal." He gave her a blank look, "You know, the Cloud King?" she pushed.
Azrael's eyes lit up, "The Cloud King??" he asked.
Adele nodded, "The one and only." He stared at her, shocked. "Come, you really must stay the night. If you'd like to go in the morn' you may."
Azrael followed Adele into the small cave, curling up in the far corner.
---
The sun was barely starting to rise when Azrael woke up and crept out of the cave. He was sitting on the far ledge watching something off in the distance, when Adele joined him, "You aren't all bad you know," she whispered.
Azrael turned his head, "I'm nothing but trouble...." he answered, a sad look on his face.
"I don't believe that," she stated.
"Its the truth," he breathed.
Their eyes met for a while until Coriander sauntered up, "It's time for you to get going," he said coldly.
"Thanks for everything," Azrael whispered towards Adele.
"Good luck," she murmured, watching his shadowed body take to the sky and head to the east.

Lighting, thunder and rain, that's all Azrael could see as he flew around, flying through a storm which seemed like it would never end. He eventually came to a cave, looked dark, but safe. Azrael slowly walked through the cave. "How deep does this go" Azrael thought after about 5 minutes of walking.
"No, no, no" A voice said, this voice was a bit British "We can't go out there. Ptyx did and he hasn't came back yet"
"We can't leave him out there" Said another voice, this one was soft and had no echo in the cave.
"I would happily follow that fool if i weren't so... you know, hurt" A third voice, this one more deep.
"If we're lucky, he'll be in the same position as you" replied the British voice
"What? bleeding?"
"No, alive... just"
Azrael turned around, ready to leave. All there was here was 3 dragons fighting over saving a friend. Azrael didnt know the guy, nor did he care. There is sure to be another cave nearby. As me turned to walk away a dragon came in. Seeing Azrael. This dragon was black as night. Her eyes hidden behind a pair of goggles. She had skulls round her neck. "Going somewhere?" she said
Azrael replied "Yeah, not here. just a bunch of bickering here."
"You and I share the same mind"
"Explain..."
"I hate it here. All we talk about is 'where is Taeil' or 'Lets save Blyx', Its just the same old thing here"
"Im Azrael"
"Greyrock"
"A normal name? haven't heard on of those in ages"
"Grey? is that you" The British voice yelled out. "Grey?"
"Shut you're trap Adrastea. You knows it me. Who else would it be?" Replied Greyrock, after saying her question realized what the answer would be.
"Ptyx" Adrastea said. Greyrock mouthed the words in the same time as he said them.
"Same old stuff" Greyrock said to Azrael. "Do you wanna meet the 'same old stuff' crew?"
"What do i have to lose?"
"Time. And lot of time" Greyrock said as she walked toward Adrastea and the other two voices. "Adrastea, We got a wanderer"
as Azrael walked round the corner he saw 5 dragons (not including Greyrock). He saw a huge blue Snapper sleeping at the wall most far away. A green Tundra staying near a fire, looking like she had been swimming for a year. A black and grey Guardian, covered head to toe in bandages. A Skydancer with many shades of green wearing copper steampunk armor. And Adrastea, a yellow and purple Tundra wearing a bit of gold.
"Visitor!?" Said the Skydancer, leaping to Azrael to examine him.
"Hey, hey, hey. What are you doing?" Said Azrael
"Just... checking" The Skydancer said after making assumptions about Azrael. "You're good... enough."
