Biography
|
Kami grew up quite normally for a Coatl within the Cloudsong. One would never suspect that this quiet Coatl would eventually become the head honcho of what she dubs the "Shade Trade", or more commonly known as the Black Market. Her path narrowed to this point over time thanks to her uncanny sense of observation and her desire for equal opportunities for all. She watched the supply of certain, already rare items dry up faster than raindrops in the Shifting Expanse, and when another dragon formed ideas of creating simple, obviously fake replicas that could have been recolored to differentiate said items from their priceless counterparts similar to that of another set of rare items that had the same done to them, they had been met with harsh backlash. Kami despised elitism, and seen the true ugliness that society held unfold with no hesitation. She watched as selfishness and greed corrupted many dragons, wishing for others to share in the same misery they had to endure rather than hoping that future generations had an easier path to follow. This was the straw that broke the camel's back and cemented Kami's future. Kami hardened her focus and strengthened her memory, practicing the arts needed to forge these items until they were indistinguishable from the real thing. Her eye for detail is unrivaled, allowing her to replicate perfect counterfeits of these special items before imbuing them with the magic needed to make them absolutely flawless. At first, she gave them out for free so that others could finally have their dreams come true, but soon a bounty was placed on her head and she was forced to go into deep into hiding, where she continued her work in secret. When she emerged once more, she traveled to a place where few dragons would dare go, an area that was starting to become contaminated with the Shade. Only those with nothing left to lose would dare chase after her, and if they did, Kami was no slouch when it came to fighting. A pocket mouse will bite if cornered after all. Of course, not every dragon who came after her wanted a quick pay day from her bounty. These drakes may have followed her cause, wanted a cut of her profit, or perhaps some other reason. She could care less so long as they worked for her, either by delivering drop offs, gathering goods, killing, garnering Intel on anti-forging and anti-counterfeiting methods, and other various notions. Soon her fledgling network spidered into a vast empire. Business was always booming, and those that stood in Kami's way, spies, or those unlucky dragons who were caught in her unfavorable gaze, were dealt with swiftly and mercilessly. She especially despised traitors and made sure something "special" was saved for them personally. Within her strive and dedication to rid the world of Sorneith of the aggressive and stigmatic culture that sounded these items, Kami had become heartless, a dragon with nothing to lose and a need to see the world burn. Some rumor that she had gone mad from working in such close proximity of the Shade for so long. Others speculate that she allowed herself to become corrupted and permitted hatred to consume her for the sake of chaos. Whatever the reason, Sorneith and its economy will never be the same. Whether that is a good or bad thing, is within the eye of the beholder. |
