Ianthino

Least Concern The Purple Grenadier is a common species of finch resident to much of eastern Africa. Found in a variety of savanna and woodland habitats, often in small flocks, they eat mainly grass seeds and arthropods, including termites and small spiders. With a very large range (approximately 1,500,000 square kilometers), these birds are not considered to be at risk of extinction.

Fun Fact: Purple Grenadiers are a “sexually dimorphic” species, which means that there are noticeable differences between the appearance of males and females. In this case, males have more striking plumage, while females are less vibrant. Before he arrived in OwlWood, Ianthino went by the name Chorus, named so for the magical quality of his voice. His deep baritone has multiple facets so it tends to sound as if more than one dragon is singing at once. When he decided to take a new name, as is the tradition in our clan, he originally chose to name himself for the veery (Catharus fuscescens), who has a gorgeous, magical song. In January, 2024, he decided to transform himself further, going from Skydancer to Aether, and taking the name Ianthino, after the striking Purple Grenadier.

Despite his musical talent and glamour, he is humble. Not even close to being proud or arrogant he finds himself most often settled in a corner and reading. He's a bit of a wanderer but the warm atmosphere of the Worldedge and the warm playful welcome of the other dragons, has let this angelic creature settle in comfortably.
