While battling foes in the Kelp Beds, the clan's warriors came across a lone kelp tender, with its herd nowhere in sight. This in and of itself was strange, and the situation grew even more so as it flicked its tail, bobbing urgently up and down in the water. Though Malika was confused, she began to follow it as it headed determinedly away, checking now and again to make sure the dragon was still with her. After a bit of a swim, the creature led her to a small tidal pool, occupied by only a single egg, which was clearly abandoned. The kelp tender nudged it forward gently, its liquid eyes wide with distress. Without hesitation, Malika helped both the egg and its benevolent protector back to the Clan of the Flowering Glen, where a beautiful baby girl hatched out a short while later. To this day, Anemone's kelp tender, now fondly dubbed "Nessie," follows her wherever she can by navigating the pools and streams indigenous to the Viridian Labyrinth. They are positively inseparable.

Since most youngsters are only in the clan for a short while before journeying off to their new homes, in Anemone’s youth she was a favorite target when it came to incessant spoiling. Malika and Malachi took her in as their own, and could hardly help but buy her the latest of toys or festival items. Since she didn’t have any siblings to grow up with, this warmth and attention delighted Anemone, and she remains very close to both of them.

To those who don’t know Anemone well, at first she may seem like the “typical Spiral”-- upbeat, energetic, and possessing a playful nature. While Malika has certainly rubbed off on her to a degree, in the privacy of her own company Anemone has suffered doubts and insecurities regarding the nature of her adoption. No matter what angles she looks at it, her egg was left to die, and though the sting has faded somewhat over time, this information troubles her deeply. While Barnacle is not the most openly expressive of dragons, being mates with a Snapper suits Anemone quite well. She needs someone more slow-paced to keep her grounded, and he has been her unwavering rock no matter what turbulent storms she faces.
