Biography
"Shoot, did I melt a hole through the bottom of the cave again? My bad, sorry."
Long before he joined his current clan, Hazmat was part of a clan together with Colichemarde in the Tangled Wood. Though they were friends there, Colichemarde and Hazmat had long been dissatisfied with how things were run in their home clan, and together, they decided to run away. While escaping from their clan, the two of them became separated. But while Colichemarde managed to make his way to the Sunbeam Ruins, Hazmat instead escaped across the opposite border... into the Scarred Wasteland.
From there, things only got from bad to worse for Hazmat. He wandered for days, feeding on the tainted plants and animals when he could. The infection changed him from within, making his own body hazardous to everything around him. He rarely stayed among clans within the wasteland for long, feeling that he was too hazardous for anyone to stay nearby him.
He probably would have wandered forever had he not run into the recently mutated Proteus out on Rotrock Rim. He brought the dragon to safety and watched over him as he rested. While Proteus was mostly incoherent as a result of what had happened to him, Hazmat was eventually able to learn some rather interesting information.
Apparently, Colichemarde lived. And not only did he live, but he was one of the leaders of Proteus' home clan. Proteus had been away from the clan so that he could study the Wyrmwound, when he'd accidentally fallen in, and eventually ended up like this.
Feeling reinvigorated by this information, Hazmat pulled Proteus onto his back (as the Tundra was still too exhausted from the change to travel on his own) and traveled all the way to the Sunbeam Ruins so he could meet with his friend. When he collapsed on the front step of the Philosopher's Haven, exhausted and starved from his long journey, the clan erupted into a panic. Eventually, he was able to explain everything, and after finally meeting with Colichemarde, he was accepted into the clan to stay.
Since joining the clan, Hazmat has made himself known as one of the clan's strongest warriors. He tries to stay jovial about his situation, something that's greatly helped by the charm he wears, which suppresses his radioactive elements. Despite this, he prefers to live somewhat separate from the rest of the lair with Proteus, as he doesn't want to risk something going wrong.
