Fancette

Fancette is the mate of Kutta, a noble warrior and council member, and the mother of Shortcake, who can best be described as either a dandy and poet, or a spoilt brat. It's common knowledge amongst the clan that it would be unwise to express the latter within Fancette's earshot.

She is an ambitious and cunning dragon. Her choice of mate was initially strategic; Kutta was of little interest to her before he became noble. However, over the years they have formed a strong bond. She knows that Kutta has a disdain for politics and wants to retire from the council, but she feels it's best for the clan and their family if he maintains the position. While this is a source of tension in their relationship, Fancette seems to have convinced Kutta of the merits of her argument for now.

Shortcake clearly inherited his taste for the finer things in life from his mother. She has a tendency to dote upon him, and his behaviour has caused many conflicts between her and Kutta. Things have become even more tense of late, given Shortcake's new hobby of petty theft. She knows of Kutta's secret wish for Shortcake to be exiled. While this saddens her, she sees the reason in it. However, she would be unable to bear the reputational damage this would incur to her family. Instead she is encouraging Shortcake to find a mate, feeding him grand ideas of forming a clan of his own.
