+ He blinked confusedly in the quietness of dawn. There had been such clamour, such a cacophony of noise, and now here he was, shards of eggshell still clinging to his sleek new feathers. Blinking again, he hissed for his nameless brothers, so far away. The cataclysm that had birthed him seemed to have spread the three younglings far apart from one another - and there were so many other hatchlings.

A tiny, brown tongue flicked out towards his father, who was already spreading his wings, ready to fly away. Unnamed knew his father, too, was nameless, and his mother, who had already left her dun-hued hatchlings. From the dim colours of his plumage, he sensed that he, too, should remain nameless.

Next to his elder brother, there was a rather handsome young imperial, also blinking and mewling in the sudden dawn. And then... a terrible and inexplicable void. He shuddered, and grew still. For there was a void twin to that first even now next to him, so near as to brush against his feathers - as near as his youngest brother ought have been. He grew still and silent, resolutely avoiding the eldritch unease of #11111120....
