Biography

Sonata has a beautiful siren-like voice that she can use to attract and temporarily control nearby shade touched creatures.

When she fist arrived at Asima's clan her powers were new and uncontrollable. Charlie had quite the adventure even getting her there as her every vocalization, be it a snore or a cough, brought enemies out of the woodwork. These days she uses her voice for clan defense and information. One softly sung question is enough to get very valuable info out of a corrupted creature who speaks dragon and a musical order is impossible to resist.

Her confidence in her powers has led her into some tricky situations. A dry/sore throat can be fatal when stuck out in the arcane wilderness alone, and screaming only incapacitates ravenous pursuers for so long. Also, some shade creatures don't seem to quite snap out of the spell when she's done with them. They might follow her for days or weeks in a zoned-out state quietly watching her and freaking out the rest of the clan. Some can be released by being captured and drawing the shade out of them but some are so far gone that they must be put down so that their suffering from the unstoppable and steady corruption can end. These cases bother Sonata the most, and have spurred her to study and become proficient in shade healing. She's actually much more passionate about her healing studies than anything else. She's seen too many creatures who could have been saved if everyone wasn't so scared of the shade, if dragons made a point to tear out the corruption without harming the bodies it inhabits. There have been innocent familiars, lost beastclan allies, clan neighbors...

There was a nest.

She doesn't really talk about it.

Currently she's working with (and struggling not to be constantly intimidated by) Venacava to further her studies and lends her voice to Venus's many recording experiments on shade detection and repulsion. she's quiet, cheerful, and mildly to insufferably sarcastic.
