{Here? Are they here? Is this the Lair?}

My wings fold tight against my body, thorns piercing the feathers. My head lowers; I can sense ninety four dragons, a large Clan. My eyes catch sight of a Mirror. Her armor glitters in the faint light cast by glowing fungi.

She turns her head towards me, and I shrink back.

{Oh dear Gladekeeper, I hope she didn't see me...}

I hear the four-eyed beast bark some orders. I feel her coming closer.

{Now or never...}

Before I can react, I feel a sharp pain in my neck. My vision fades, and the last thing I hear is a voice.

"Dear Shadowbinder, assassins now? Take her to a bed. We should really build an interrogation room at some point..."

"Hey there! You awake yet?"

My eyes slowly open, and less than an inch from my face, is a Wildclaw. He's standing on my chest, claws raised to avoid piercing me.

"Come on! Kali said you're part of the Clan now, and if you denied it, she'd kill you. Come meet her!"

{...This will be a looooong day.}

Before I run after the Wildclaw, I take a look at where I was sleeping. A bed made of Wolf Pelts? How fancy. I don't look for long, however, because that Wildclaw bites my wing, intending to drag me. His skeletal teeth are painful, though he probably didn't mean it. My thorns raise in defense, and he jumps back, but I still follow.

The main room is positively gigantic. How this place could fit... wherever it is, I had no idea. The ceiling was at least 60 meters high, big enough that Imperials could fly in circles above our heads.

In the center of the room is the Mirror from before. She must have poisoned me. Or something. She did something to me, causing me to faint. The Wildclaw pushes through a surprising amount of dragons, eventually halting a meter before this Mirror.

"You should go on ahead. Kali scares me."

{Well, that's encouraging.}

I step forward. This Mirror is huge... A full meter longer than I am, and a wingspan of over seven meters. Her four eyes stare right into my soul.

"What were you doing on our territory, and what is your name?"

I cannot speak due to a hole in my neck. Instead, I use telepathy.

~I am Rogue. I was sent to kill you.~

"Who sent you?"

~I do not know the name, but I do know that they seek to destroy you.~

"Let them come themselves, then. No need to hire a mercenary."

~That's... a calm way to put it.~

"I'm not calm, I'm confident. I lead a pack- Clan of over ninety loyal dragons. Even the demons respect my rule here. I'd like to see anything less than a Deity just try to take us down."

These words, along with her strong form and glistening armor, struck the smallest bit of fear into my heart. I nod. My thorns curl protectively around me, and I turn my head ever so slightly to the left.

"Dismissed. You will gather for us tomorrow, so get some food and sleep. Remember, you chose this life by entering our territory; This is either your punishment, or your reward. It is what you make of it."

I walk away. Frightening dragon, she is.

Exalting Rogue to the service of the Shadowbinder will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
